To whom it may concern:
Bewitched is "nothing" special to talk about. DVDFab Decrypter version 2.9.5.2 (yes... it's FREE) can easily rip/decrypt "Bewithced" (including everything) flawlessly. In addition, DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 (yes... it's FREE) can rip the movie only easily to the hard drive as well.
Teach and learned - enjoyed it..!!

You would know if you have version 5.5.1.1 because it could only be downloaded as of late in the day last Friday Oct 27th. New betas of AnyDVD are released by Slysoft hours after recieving the VOB's from users who encounter movies with new, problem CSS schemes. Official releases come 1-2 days after beta. You gotta update when you have a problem. Keep an eye on this board when you want info about AnyDVD or problem movies:

No dis intended, but I think you are off base (at this time) looking for a hardware issue. Anyone who had problems with bewitched had their problems resolved by the 28th if they updated.

I said "at this time" because you are not so off base; what you suspected could happen in the future. What if the "powers that be" covertly offered BenQ, for instance, 5 million dollars (or separate offshore payoffs to key executives) to include code in their firmware updates that would trigger radical protection blocks when their encoded DVD movies were inserted into the BenQ drive and that computer also housed any backup software programs. Not to be picking BQ but just an example.
Now take the conspiracy up a few notches. How much money a year do these "powers that be" "claim" that they are loosing a year? Even if a small% of that $ were so, they could probably afford $50 or a $100 million for multiple drive makers. For that kind of secret, non-taxable money, maybe a drive maker wouldn't mind the loss in drive sales when the word gets out. They could probably afford to shut down the drive division, sell their stock and move to Bimini.
But the senario that would most probably happen?: "They" would just take their millions and Lobby/Bribe/Contribute the already conservative House, Senate and soon-to-be Great Wall of the Supreme Judiciary. Specifically, to pass a law that requires drive manufacturers to comply with the above plot.
1984 ... all over again.

.... and if thay had done something to my BenQ so it couldn't back up my DVD collection ... NewEgg would have gotten it back in a heartbeat ...

I just copied bewitched with the new Nero 7 with AnyDVD running in the background and it worked great!! No problems. You can download a demo copy of Nero 7 ultra from the Nero homepage and click downloads.

I had the latest versions of both Decrypter and Shrink and they could not rip a brand new copy of "Bewitched." I also had a version of DVD43 on my computer, but it could not get past this DVD. After looking through lots of posts -- and trying DVDFabDecrypter (it did NOT work, I got an error message) and not wanting to buy AnyDVD (although I would if absolutely necessary) -- I saw a post about the latest (August '05) version of DVD43. I checked and saw that my version had been downloaded back in December '04, so I uninstalled that old version, installed the new version (took less than a minute), and now Decrypter worked PERFECTLY with DVD43 in the background -- the program went right through the file that was holding things up. No problems at all.
I'd been a bit skeptical of DVD43 before as sometimes it "conflicts" with Decrypter on my computer system and I have to close DVD43 to get Decrypter to work (happens maybe 1 in 6 or 7 tries). But it worked great with this disc that the latest versions of Shrink and Decrypter had not been able to do.
I know everyone's computer set-up is different, but this might be a way for some of you to get "Bewitched" to work, still using only free programs.

You can try and do this:
1. Use DVD Decrypter to copy the files of the DVD to your C:\
(ie C:\Bewitched\video_ts). I don't use ISO images (they never seem to work).
2. Use Nero 6 (or Nero 7 I'm sure it's got the same stuff) in DVD-Video mode and copy the video files into Nero's video_ts folder and away you go. This is good because when you are in DVD-video mode, it automatically booktypes the DVD for you. No probs :)
