Hi everyone

i currently have the following specs:
A64 2800 S754
1 gig 3200 DDR kingston value 2x512
GF TI 4800
160 gig maxtor sata
200 gig maxtor sata
2x liteon 12x dvdrw
ASUS K8V-X MOBO
and various other pci cards

What my problem is i have started editing dvds converting divx to dvds etc while downloading and burning all at the same time. recently ive started experiencing some serious lagging and slow down i need to speed things up without spending too much cash.
i thinking of changing my processor but am wondering would changing to S939 really benefit me or just changing to a bigger S754 cpu be enough

and as for ram would more of the same be better than just buying something crazy like corsair xms baring in mind i cant really afford the buy gigs of the stuff

any general adive to speed things up would be appreciated

From what I know, video editing requires serious cpu power. I would recommend looking into a dual core cpu if you want multi-tasking as a priority. NewEgg has some decent prices, $330 for the processor and $94 for the motherboard, plus what you might get back by reselling your existing cpu/mb would help cut the price down in the long run.

Encoding is CPU intensive. Editing is RAM and video card intensive.
