I cant manage to play my PS2 backups in my PS2, i am copying to TDK DVD-R disks. they copy and read on my pc, but not on my playstation 2, it is modded with a infinity chip, i burn the games using DVD decrypter. any suggestions?
When i insert the game in my PS2, it says "insert a valid playstation or playstation 2 disk".
I have only one other backup i got of someone, which is getaway black monday, and that works fine, so i guess i am not burning the DVDs properly.
I just use DVD-decrypter, chaning the iso to read when i want to make the ISO and then to write when i want to burn the DVD.
Any1 got any suggestions?????????????????????????????
PLEASE HELP

stop double posting your questions and wait for people
to answer.
I have used TDK and they work fine.
Have you tried searching to see if there is any new firmware
out there for your burner, if there is get it and that may
work out your problems. sometimes burners have media issues
due to outdated firmware. i bought mine brand new and still had
to update the firmware it came with for better results.

Ok Jin999, can anyone tell me what i should do now??
TDK, JVC, Datawrite dvd's are not working in my PS2. The only chipped game i have managed to play on my PS2 is getaway black monday which is silver at the bottom? and has printing on the top, so i cant see what DVD it is. So i put it in my comp and it reads as a DVD-ROM.
Means my PS2 hasnt accepted any DVD-R or DVD+R so for, it has only accepted the chipped getaway black monday, and my CD-R backups. i know you need a chip for getaway black monday even though its silver at the bottom because when i turn the chip of it doesnt work.
Any had a problem like this?

Did you follow jin666's advice and burn at 4x?

I always use DVD Decrypter to get the iso to hard drive and then use Nero image burning program to burn the iso to DVD-R at 4x, or more sometimes depending on how I'm feeling. Never have any problems with my burns this way.. but it does depend on your hardware.
By the way, you never did mention which game it is you're trying to back-up?

I don't know if anyone else guessed this, but it very well could be an issue with the PS2 hardware, namely the laser. Those are not uncommon. How old is your unit?

I would say if The Getaway Blck Monday is a printed disc,
and says it is a DVD-Rom that it is not a back up copy.
Did your friend make it or buy it that way. It may be professionally
done. Most home users don't have the technology to print on the discs. Try this, disable your chip and try to play it, if it
loads up then it is not a back up copy but a pressed DVD-Rom
i have see stuff like that come out of the asian black markets.

DVD Decrypter and TDK discs should work just fine. Not really sure why they don't, there are too many factors. Like possibly you have programs like antivirus software running in the backround, or you use your PC while burning them.

So let me get this straight.

You can download a PS2 game, Unzip it and Play it on your PS2 via a DVD-R disk?

But the PS2 needs to be modded to play them? and in some cases doesnt play them even if they are modded?

So i download FF8 for PS2 and burn the ISO to a TDK DVD-R, My PS2 is not modded, what happens?

Can someone put me in perspective? in lamen terms.

Yes, you got that correct, almost...

You cannot play a backup disc on your ps2 without some sort of modification to it, most people use either swap magic and a simple case mod/inserts for the ps2 or a modchip.

That's usually because the people who've burned the discs have used crappy media, burned it incorrectly or other (often small) things... it is very rare that you can't do something to the iso to get it to work on either swap magic or a modchip.

Simply put the disc will not play in your ps2!! there may be nothing wrong with the disc at all, but you haven't got a way to boot whatever is on the disc.

Think of it as having a car with no keys, the car should still be able to drive, but without the keys you can't drive it... and if you had a modification, think of that as hotwiring it.

It's late and am tired... best I could come up with, LOL.

Hope that cleared it up for you?

Well, swap magic is just a way of booting up the copied discs.. it's basically a real ps2 disc that's been modified so that as soon as it's completed the part where the ps2 checks the disc to see if it's real, loads a program that stops the disc spinning and allows you to swap for the copied game..then when you press x on the keypad it continues to load the game.
For the modification, you need to find out what version PS2 you have got.. then get the relevant fliptop or whatever to use with swap magic discs.. you need the mod because the ps2 knows if the drive gets opened and rechecks the disc.. this mod stops that.
There are many places that sell the swap magic and fliptops etc.. do a google for "ps2 fliptop" or something like that... but make sure you get the correct mod for your console.
Alternatively, you could get your console modchipped, if you're in the US check this place out http://teammodders.com/install.php

First off that's not a disc code... that looks like a code you get off the packaging for discs.

To get a disc code, insert the disc into the drive... open DVD Decrypter and put it into iso write mode and select the drive you just put the disc into... you should now see this kind of thing:-
