Hi guys.
I know... Nothing is impossible...
But here is something that could be impossible.
I want to have a backup from Battlefront 2.
I burned it with Nero (newest version) with a blank Dvd (sony 8x (-))
Then I put the swap magic version 2.0 in my ps2. I changed the dvds and pushed x.
I saw 2 red lines so I thought i did something wrong. I burned it again and again but always the same thing...
Then I used the dvdloaderv7all. Some Games which doesnt work with swap 2.0 works with the dvdloader like return to arms.
But this time it doesnt work with the dvdloaderv7all. Agian those red lines.
I dont know what i can do...
Can somebody help me???...
Please.. i dont have much blank dvds...
They arent very cheap.
HELP!!!

Ditch SM 2.0. Pick up SMD 3.6 For around $20 from a couple sites: http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=Swap+Magic&tab=wf&sa=N It works great and you can say goodbye to DVD loader, CD loader, and cogswap loader forever. Other than that burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R with DVD Decrypter. Use quality DVD-R's like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Maxell, Sony, TDK, or Phillips. Here's a guide for DVD Decrypter: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html

Sorry about those questions but i dont have much blank dvds, so i want to be sure what i am doing.

Calm down everybody. If the game is over 4.38GB's you may need to rebuild it to work with SM 3.6: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id4.html#rebuilding Your other option is to do a TOC refresh:
From Life4K2: From what I understand to play a Double Layer or DVD-9 Game, or a game over 4.38GB's, you have to:

1) Insert SWAP MAGIC DISK
2) Insert a double layer layer original game
3) When it says TOC refresh
4) Eject by pressing the eject button and
5) Insert the double layer backup of your choice
This doesn't half to be a double layer game, just an original game that is bigger than Swap Magic, around 4.38GB's.

Pretty amazing how quick this game was available over BT. If it's only 3.87GB's it shouldn't need rebuilt. Open her up with IsoBuster and see if there are any pesky dummy files.
From Hursty: when you see the iso has dummy files.i.e 00DUMMY. 01DUMMY. GARBAGE ETC,
you need to get rid of them,by replacing them with a file.

so on the desktop, right click the mouse, select "new" > text document
rename it as it appears in isobuster, click enter

then open the text document on the desktop, hit space once, then save,
this will create a text document with 1 byte in it,

do this for all the dummy files you have,as some games have more than one.

DO NOT DRAG THE DUMMY FILES,FROM ISO BUSTER INTO THE NEW FOLDER

when you do step 7 , you need to add the new dummy files into Nero,as instructed,in the same order as isobuster

Yeah I meant in the US. It just came out here. I doubt this is the one game that doesn't work with Swap Magic. But I don't own Swap Magic or this game, so I don't know for sure. My PS2 is getting chipped as we speak, no swapping for me. :)

I use Swap Magic 3.3 with Flip Top Lid on a Slimline PS2 Version 12.
I backed-up the game after a rebuild. My son has been playing it for 3 nights now, and no problems..

It seems like the PAL version is okay after a rebuild. Anybody successfully booted the NTSC-US version with SM 3.6 after a rebuild?

I don't know what you mean. If you mean is it compatible with the HD advance, check here: http://list.ps2hd.com/ If you want to know how to transfer games from your PC to your PS2HD, check here: From chdavis:
I found steps the other day on the HDAvanced web that will allow one to connect the PS2 to the PC using a cat 5 cross-over cable. I am not sure about HDA ver2, but I have the newest version HSA 3.0. and have transfered from PC to PS2.
Here is a shortened version of what I found:
Transferring .ISO file from computer to PS2 HDD:
* Download the HDAdvance Dump program.(http://www.hdadvance.com/hda_srv.zip)
* Connect PS2 to computer via cross-over cat 5 cable.
* 'Press and hold' any key on JoyPad1 and then boot HDAdvance 3.0 on PS2. HDAdvance Server mode will be launched automatically.
* follow the steps below to assign a IP address to your computer so as to make the connection between PS2 and Computer successful.

1) Click "Start" --> "Control Panel" --> "Network Connections"
2) Right Click "Local Area Networks" --> "Properties"
3) Double Click "Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)"
4) Click the "Use the following IP address" option
5) In the IP Address text box, please type: 192.168.1.111
6) In the Subnet Mask text box, please type: 255.255.255.0
7) Leave the Default Gateway blank
8) Click "OK" to confirm the setting.
Launch the HDAdvance Dump program:
1) Leave "Networking server, at" set to 192.168.1.110
2) Click the "Attach" button to connect to the PS2
3) If the connection works, "Disk Space" will show the HDD volume and free space
4) In the section, Operation" on the PS2, choose "Install games" to the PS2.
5) To transfer DVD-9 (yes, HDa3 works with DVD-9 now!), select "ISO file" under the Source section, and browse to the ISO file to be transfered. Select "DVD-ROM" in the drop-down box.
6) If you do not have an ISO file, "Optical drive" will let you convert DVD/CD games from the computer's DVD-ROM/CD-Rom directly. Just select the Type from the drop-down list.
7.) After you locate the ISO file, you will see information in the "Game" section. Here you can rename the game file in the "Name" box, but don't change anything in the "Startup" box.
8.) Click the "Install" button to start the trasfer.

I have hdadvance 2.0 I know of a way to transfer files to the p2 using the pc. my question is will the game play if i save it to the hdd using the pc. I have saved the game to the hdd on my p2 using the p2 but it wont play. The first battlefont could be saved/played by moddifing one of the files before transfering it to the p2. I was wondering if battlefront 2 was like this and if it is what file do i modify and how?

I'm not sure you may have to patch it or wait for someone to post it's compatibility. Have you tried different modes to boot? Press select and you and cand toggle between Modes 1, 2, and, 3.
Modes:

Mode 1 = slower hdd access
Mode 2 = enable dvd9 flattened to dvd5 support
Mode 3 = flush hdloader from ps2 memory upon loading game
Aside from that check the forums at hdadvance.com, PS2hd.com, and PS2nfo.com. I'm sure it's mentioned there somewhere.

this is used when it is allowed for you to use Nero

(no individual file over 2 gb)

WHAT YOU NEED

dvd decrypter http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_...
iso buster http://www.smart-projects.net/isobuster/
nero (burning rom) Nero.com/en/nero-up.php" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.Nero.com/en/nero-up.php (upgrade may be required)
good quality media

step 1

make a new folder on the desktop, and use DVD Decrypter to make an iso image.....MODE>ISO>READ,.....put the image in the folder,if you are comfortable in finding the image on the hardrive, then dont make a folder on desktop.....its just easier this way.

step 2

make another folder on desktop, name it whatever the game is called.ie dead to rights 2

step 3

open up iso buster and browse for the iso image you just made,
open it.....you should see a long list of files on the right hand side(that is the breakdown of the iso image)....i.e lots of folders etc etc.

now we need both iso buster open and the empty second folder open on the pc screen,...so you should have in front of you,iso buster with a list of folders and the empty second folder

step 4

now from the list of folders in iso buster, drag and drop them one by one over to the new folder,in the same order they are listed,so start at the top and work your way down to the bottom, this may take some time,as iso buster will extract the files over.

NOW YOU CAN CLOSE ISOBUSTER,ITS NO LONGER NEEDED

now this new folder contains the rebuilt game you have just made with iso buster,.....check the size!!!!...it should be much smaller than the one you started with

step 5

now we have to burn it......
open up Nero, and select Nero BURNING ROM

you will see a window pop up with the title new compilation...on the left hand side, there is a list of options, dvd rom,dvd copy etc.....we want the bottom one DVD-ROM(UDF/ISO).click it..then click NEW,(top right)

step 6

you will now see a new window with 4 columns,
now find the folder which stores the game.i.e dead to rights 2,and open it up.
you should see a list of folders again, like before

step 7

in Nero, the first column on the left, titled "new"..this is where we want to place the game folders
so drag and drop them over, one by one, starting from the top working your way down...so now you will see a few folders in the first column, but also so a few in the second column, dont worry about that, its just the breakdown of the folders content

donr worry if they appear to be listed in a different order,to which you dropped them in,.they will burn in the order in which you put them, although i dont think it matters what order they are placed

step 8

now we have all the folders ready to burn...(the blue bar at the bottom should read as the same size as the second folder which contains the rebuilt game.i.e 1.5 GB,if it is in the red,it means you have not selected DVD in the opening page of nero)
in Nero there is an emblem with a dvd/matchstick figure, click it.
it may give you the message,"error, you about to burn a multi session disc",if this happens,un-check the multi session box

step 9

make sure the settings for your usual burning preferences are set.i.e speed, turn off internet etc.......and off you go,burn the sucker

IF YOU HAVE DUMMY FILES

do as above,but insert.....these steps

step 4a

when you see the iso has dummy files.i.e 00DUMMY.

Alien13, and for those who find themselves stuck with the "Not a valid ps2 disc" when booting backups from Swap Magic, after you put in you back up, tried to press SQUARE, not X. As you can see on bottom of the Swap Magic screen, Sqaure is for special boot and it tends to work fine without any error message as to X is for normal boot and i get that message all the time when pressing X. Try SQUARE and let me know how it goes. GOodluck!!!

I thought it might be a good idea for people that have used this method to post what games they've successfully backed up. This might give some of the newbies out there, like myself, a chance to see if this method has worked for others on games they want to back up... then if they have questions, they might be able to ask them here and get some answers that could help them.

I was able to use the mothod described in this thread, and SUCCESSFULLY backed up "Mafia." I did all the steps listed except that I just extracted all the files from ISOBuster into a new folder, rather than dragging and dropping them one by one... this didn't appear to effect the outcome.

I then went into Nero Burning Rom, selected the UDF/ISO option and did just as hursty said... I dragged each folder ONE BY ONE from the portion that shows what's on my LOCAL DISC (ie: C:\, D:\, etc, this section can usually be found on the right half portion of the Nero application) and dropped them all the way over to the section where you see the disc label (default is "New", should be clear to the left of the screen). After dropping all the folders here, I opened up ISOBuster and the ISO file for the game to see what order the files were in. The folders were in the same alphabetical order that I found them to be on my hard disc, but the files were slightly different. Now I don't know if this makes a difference or not, but I had nothing to lose so I tried it anyway.

I looked at the list in my ISO via ISOBuster and matched it to the order in which I dragged the FILES (not folders) from the local disc onto the DVD-R I wanted to burn via Nero Burning Rom. I simply dragged each one in the same order as they were listed in the ISO file into the center section (just to the right of where I dragged the FOLDERS, and just to the left of where it shows the contents of the local disc). I did this with just the main folder... file by file; there weren't many so it wasn't difficult at all. I realize this is kind of a hard thing to explain, but hopefully it makes sense. And like I said, whether or not this makes a difference doing them one by one, in the same order as the ISO shows, I do not know.

After I was ready to begin the burn, I pressed the burn button at the top of Nero and changed my speed to 2x. After it finished I placed my Swap Magic Plus v3.6 DVD ROM DRIVER disc into my PS2. Turned it on, and waited for Swap Magic Plus to load. I got to the "Load Program" screen and opened up my FLIP TOP COVER, replaced the Swap Magic Plus disc with my back-up copy of Mafia (the disc I just created with Nero) and closed my flip top cover. I left the "Video Mode" set to "Normal" and with the Swap Magic program highlighted over the "Load Program" option, I pressed "X" on my paddle. The game loaded quickly and perfectly.

I want to say thanks to hursty for this guide... I was stoked when it worked. Thanks a bunch, man!! As for the list of games I've successfully backed up via this method, I'll start with it now and add to it whenever I successfully back up another. Thanks again, hursty.

GAMES I'VE SUCCESSFULLY BACKED-UP VIA THIS METHOD:

ps this will work it worl's for me
