This will be my first time trying to do this on a computer. I am new at this, as you can tell.
I have used the search feature on this site "editing music" but nothing came up.
Actually what I want to do is: blend in the first part of a song from the first cd, then part of a song on the 2nd cd, then the remainder of the song from the first CD. I know where I want to spit the songs and blend together, but I don't know how.
I've done most of my recording on a Harmon Kardon home unit. But never have recorded on the computer.
I know this question will sound very stupid to people who do such things very often, but believe me when I say, I would like to know how.

first rip your selected songs from your CDs to WAVE format. the best program for this is EAC (exact audio copy). Next use an audio editor to combine the audio files. If you want to stick with free software you can use Audacity. For a simple mix between two songs it should work adequately.

I just purchased Nero, but I haven't even had a chance to read the manuals. Will Nero do what I want to do?? Or do you still reccommend EAC and Audacity??

If your version of Nero includes the Nero Wave Editor program, then you should be able to use that, from what I hear it is a decent audio editor. You will still need to use EAC to rip your CD tracks to WAVE though.

Is the guide by Chris Myden, still considered the best guide on using EAC??
Also, do you know of a guide for Audacity?? Just in case I decide to use Audacity instead of Wave Editor.

yes the guide for EAC by Chris Myden is still the best. It is a few years old, but newer versions of the software have become available since that guide, so it is still current. I have never used Audacity, I use Pro Tools for all my audio needs. I'm sure if you google Audacity Help or Audacity Guide you should find some help. Good luck with your audio editing
