dvd+rw wont read disk?

my memorex dvd+/-DRLWL1 F16 just quit reading disc. my power went out from a storm. but it still works. i have the newset firmware so what alse could be causing this?

Has it stoped reading ALL discs CDs and DVDs? Originals and backups?

Their is a few ways to test it out...

1. You could try going into safe mode of windows...

2. If you have a bootable CD (eg. your windows operating CD) you could pop it in on boot up and see if it tries to boot from it, (you may need to set the BIOS to boot from the CD/DVD drive)

3. Try it in another machine....

3 would be the best if it is possible... If it works in another machine then it could be down to software, if it does not work then it could be that the drive is faulty : )

i take that back, it will read dvd's and burn them. it just wont read cd's

Its possible it could be faulty but i would try it in another machine if you can.... Just to make sure : )
