please let me know...
i have pioneer 108. firmware 1.14 i guess.
i burn the first dvd+r DL. it was ok..
then here come the problem. i went to pioneer site and download and update my firmware. then my burner can't finallize the dual layer disc. the is the errorrr log..

There are other firmwares. See here:

I have no idea what your original version was. Had it been flashed before?

There's also version 1.20 at the UK support site. Seems the latest is what you have now.

If you're backing up a DVD-ROM then try using DVD Decrypter in mode Iso Read to create an iso file and then switch the mode to Iso Write and burn the ripped iso file.

Once you get that controller back to dma/udma then try DVD Decrypter.

This is a very good program on dual layer for a 1:1 copy. Use Mode ISO read to hard drive and Mode ISO write to blank dvd dl disc.

Nero6 seems to be having problems with dl burning,the DVD Decrypter is another option to try.It's what I use on my verbatim +2.4x DL media.DVD Decrypter is free and it should finalize your dl backup.

I wouldn't count ricohjpn as being crap.This is the first log I have seen with that MID code. I'm not sure of the quality.
The verbatims are some of the best dl media out there.Many peeps having trouble with the phillips and ritek dl's.

Thanx for your help, yes the next step, i'm gonna turn on the dma and use DVD Decrypter for dual layer disc. but is there any program out there just to finalize the disc only?? bcause i screw up quit a few DL disc without closing them. it burns successfull but only f**k up when it closing. i thought it was the media (fujii) so i keep on trying. or maybe i'm too drunk ..(lol) thanxxxxxx.

Dvd decrypter automatically finalizes.

Dvd shrink/autoburn with nero automatically finalizes.

The only time they don't need finalized is data dvds,that way you should be able to add more data later on.Or if you're using a tv home recorder,that way you can keep adding epidodic tv shows onto the same disc.Majority of programs should finalize during a regular dvd movie backup.

Another thing,nero can get a bit flaky.Sometimes you need a full un-install and then re-install. You'll need the nero cleantool to completely rid all remnants of nero off your pc for a clean install.Get it here:

i did follow ur instruction still doesnot turn DMA on. but when i check into my raid tool. it said transfer mode in DMA mode.

Do you think i should uninstall raid tool. bcause i never know how it work. the shop install it when i got it order.

soberfree, I would guess the DMA is likely on and that the raid controller is not being picked up by Nero logging. You could try disabling and reinstalling.

I'm not familiar with the Ricoh media used but I don't see why it shouldn't be OK since you said it burned OK before.

I also recommend DVD Decrypter over Nero for backing up on DL media. I seldom use Nero myself except for SL media.
