My integrated sound card only has 3 jacks: mic, in , and out. If I was to get this set of speakers http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836121118
would I need a new sound card or could the integrated still take it? (the integrated has software which lets me make "fake" surround sound)
And the speakers have way more plugs than I have jacks on my sound card.
Would I be better off just getting a new sound card? Thanks!

depends on what onboard audie you got. for instance, soundmax drivers allow 5.1 sound thru the three inputs you mentioned, but then you have to unplug something to use a mike.

if the speakers have more plugs (you need to go to the manufactureers
site and see what connections you need) then you have outputs, you're hosed. but then again, i haven't seen a sound card that had more than 3 output jacks. (most speaker sets run center/sub, front l/r, rear l/r, requiring only the 3. yes, i know, some cards have spdif outs, or a coax, but thats a differnt setup).

course, it's been awhile since i bought a soundcard (for some reason, people tend to give em to me), but if you only got 3 outs, this still may apply.

hope this helps.

Yeah my sound card has software and when I click on 5.1 configuration button it shows me the setup and the diagram looks like this.

JACK ----------CONFIGURATION
Blue ----------Left Surround+Right Surround Speakers
Green ----------Left Speaker+Right Speaker
Red ----------Center Speaker+Subwoofer

So from what I see each jack on the sound card will give sound to TWO speakers right? Does'nt each speaker have its own cable?
There are the speakers im planning to buy=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836121118
Thanks for all the help!

no, some (most? alll? got me. why i say go to manufacturers site to see)speaker sets run all the speakers thru the subwoofer, then to the soundcard. (ie: you plug your 3 stereo miniplugs into soundcard, thenplug them into sub, which then splits them into the 5 rca jacks you hook the speakers to).
seems to me this would be the case, since the soundcards i've seen mostly have those 3 outputs. (beyond s/pdif, and some line in crap.)
it always pays to go to mnuf site when buying online anyway: there might be a manual you can d/l for the product you want, to see if it will work for ya.

hope this helps.
