I've read conflicting stats where this rom drive supports DVD-R DL and DVD+R DL. I have two of these rom Drives but I have no way to verify what DL media it will read since I haven't worked with any.

Anyone who has worked with this drive and DL media please if you could verify that this drive will read (or won't) +- DL media.

I'm will be building a new pc with a burner which supports both +- DL media. I'll also need a rom drive which supports the same. Thank you

Go to the folowing website and download VOS Inspector. It will give you your drive specs and let you know what disc formats it can burn/read DVD-/+ R or DVD -/+R DL disc etc.

VSO Inspector is towords the bottem of the page on the link below.

The Lite-on site says your drive reads DVD+R / DVD+R9 / DVD+RW / DVD-R / DVD-RW / DVD-ROM / CD-R / CD-RW / CD-ROM

So with what Lite-on says it will read DVD+R DL disc (DVD+R9) but not the DVD-R DL disc. But again download the above program and it will tell you what it will burn/read.

Thanks for the link. I tried VOS inspector and it shows this rom drive doesn't support any kind of DL media. I guess that only way to find out the truth is to burn a DL disc and then see if this Rom drive will read it.

I first bought this drive based on this groups recomendations. It worked very well for me since I first bought it a year back. Perhaps it's time to purchase a different Rom drive with DL read capabilities. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

My SOHD-16P9S reads +dl's for sure and Nero's System Info says it reads both -dl's and +dl's. Do you have the latest firmware installed? I'm running FSO9. Of course, I'm using Verbatim DVD+R dl's.
