Ok JaguarGod ! I See You Are An Expert. I make Computers And I know much About Almost thinks In computers. But in this case (DVD) i am not expert. In the past (Before)i follow your guide and i undertood very good and working.At the moment i read your feedback or post i am tired and maybe i cant understand very well. thanks for write to me and i apreciate that. Anyway ... i try today thusday (Jueves)after i end my work (Walgreens Photolab). I tell you i try check the bad cell and the chapter 21 say 00.00.15.00 or something , you are right. But the problem with this movie is the chapter 15, 16, 17 & 18
is stuck and only have one cell for each one chapter. I mean .. if i remove the cell , I remove the charper too. Maybe when you have the Zathura movie you can post one guide or somethin (Great Guides You Make). ahh ... the chapters (1) to the (16) say the same number of chapter. but in the chapter (17) say cell 17 and 18 , but the chapter 18 say cell 19. is a little confuse. I know sony check and update the metods people know and they change for more hard. Thanks for you help. I wating for you when you make all. I still trying because I like this thinks and the hard way because is more data for my brain. Thanks Again And sorry for my english. (I learn english ... Only look at Chapter 1. If there are more than 1 cell in other chapters this is normal and not any corruption. You can look for the corrupt cells by looking at the playback in IFOEdit. Open the IFO of the main movie. Scroll to the PGC Chapter list. Look for the cells in chapter 1 that are very short. Do not rip any of those.
Do not worry about splitting by cell. This is only if you want to know which cell is unrippable, for the sake of knowing.
First, make sure that this movie does have ARccOS. Does DVD Decrypter give you the "possible structure protection..." message?
Next, make sure the DVD is 100% clean. Be careful though because if you use something too rough, you may scratch it. I clean my DVDs with car cleaner wax. This is the type that you spray on and wipe of. No washing needed. Also, Zymol spray wax works. If you have something like Mothers or McGuire's that will work as well. If you have none of those, use warm water and a very soft rag or other other material. Rubbing Alcohol may help to remove smudges.
If you still cannot rip the disc, send me the IFOs...
Didsable AnyDVD, or any other on-the-fly Decrypter you have.
Create a folder on your desktop named "Zathura".
Next, insert the DVD into your drive.
Now go into "My Compter" and right click on the DVD drive. Select "browse".
When inside, go into the "VIDEO_TS" Folder.
Now do a search for "IFO". It will give you several files.
Drag and drop those from the disc to the folder on your hard drive.
Next, use WinZIP, WinRAR, etc... to zip the folder. After that, post that you want to send the IFOs and I will PM you my e-mail. The you can send me the IFOs and I will let you know which cells to skip.
If you want, I can create a PSL for you, however, for that, you will have to send me the DVDD log and the exported PSL from DVDD as well as the IFOs. Include everything in the Zathura zip so it is only 1 attachment.

i ripped the cave useing DVD Decrypter romoved cells 1-21 ripped fine then used edit info to stripe steams but when it gos to strip the steams it erros out saying could not write vts 2 1 VOB. also tred to shrink with DVD Shrink it also gives me the same error for the same file does any one have an explanation for this never had this prob befor

It is hard to tell what the error is, but you could be trying to write to a destination that does not exist. Make sure you create the destination folder first before trying to strip streams or VobIDs.

hi,, can somebody please help me, im a bit of of a new user, i downlaoded a few movies from the net and they are in AVI format, how can i convert the movies to one blank dvd disk and make it work on my home dvd player? and if possible i would like to convert the AVI files to dvd format quickly. also i would like to add chapters and menu and titles screens and also subtitles to the movies, if anybody knows then please help me, i would be greatful.
also please can you tell me he best program for downloadin music and videos.

You will need a good software to convert the AVI to DVD compatible. Use something like avi2dvd, VSO DivX to DVD, WinAVI, TMPGEnc, etc...
After that, you will need authoring software for creating menus and such. Look through the authoring threads, but I like DVDLab Pro. It is simple and powerful. Also, if you have Nero, Roxio, Ulead, etc..., they usually come with a software for making DVDs like:
Nero Vision
Roxio DVD Builder
Ulead DVD Workshop
etc...
These are all very easy to use and good enough for what you want. This is the most info I can give you in this thread. Like I said before, the authoring threads will have more info. You should also look through the guides for converting avis and other formats to DVD.

I ripped / backed up Zathura with DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink, nothing else.
DVDDecrypter Mode-> ISO --> Read
This rips it and creates a .iso file
DVDShrink File-> Open Disk Image --> pick the .iso DVDDecrypter created.
Presto ! Zathura ripped.
Now this was a US version, I do not know if possibly other regions/countries have some other form of copy protection but there was nothing in the US Zathura that DVDDecrypter could not handle.

The new Zorro movie (Legend of Zorro I think) gave DVDDecrypter fits I believe it has the ArccOS copy protection. I downloaded the trial version of DVDFab Plat and tried it's simple mode. It ripped and burned Zorro however the picture quality of the copy was really really bad. There as blocky mis-colored corruption, glowy shadows, it was useless. I fumbled around and figured out how to get DVDFab to rip DVD9 iso however then used DVDShrink to back up the movie and the picture quality is good as always.
Does anyone here use DVDFab ? I have not looked at the all the versions ( gold, platnum etc...) but I do not like the quality at all of it's backups, I do however want to use it to Rip the image files on DVD's that DVDDecrypter can not rip (well not without a how-to the size of small novel). Is one of the cheaper versions able to do this ? I really don't want to pay extra for a version that has extra features I really don't like or intend to use.

I'm like you I know computer/network systems but I'm still a complete noob at ripping DVD's and DVD technology in general. I guess maybe you are not ripping a US version and yours has some different protection scheme or maybe it is a different pressing.
I wonder if that explains why sometimes a lot of people have the same problem ripping a movie and there are always a few that say "I had no problem" yet they all used the same process. Maybe different protection schemes in different countries or maybe they are even more than one version in the same country. I just don't know much about it yet.

Unless you're using "PgcEdit + PSL plugins + DVD Decrypter + FixVTS", then of course it's another piece of cake (possibly one of the most unstoppable method ever to rip & backup any dvds).
Otherwise, I recommend going with JaguarGod's method or try "DVDFAB Decrypter (the latest) + VobBlanker" and you'll never have to worry about getting AnyDVD period.
@Jam_7th - you need to go back and edit out JaguarGod's name on 10. March 2006 @ 03:08. I believe you may have mistyped, but it is not nice to call/name someone that is very knowledgeable and has devoted a lot of his times trying to help you. Just a note that's all, no hard feeling alright.

Odd, I ripped/burned "The Fog" with DVDDecrypter but I guess I now know why I was not able to rip "The Cave" ! I thought at the time it was just scratched. I guess it was ARccOS.

I had it posted in the Newbie threads.
You can skip the "Editing" section if you wish. The only benefit of editing is faster loading of the DVD and increased compatibility with older/picky DVD players. You can replace this by using VobBlanker to blank out whatever you do not want.
As for DVDD not being able to rip newer ARccOS anymore, that is both true and false. You can rip any DVD that is parsable with DVD Decrypter in IFO mode, but something will have to be done to fix the DVD after the rip...i.e. the IFOEdit step and the FixVTS step in my guides.
What Alkohol meant was that you can not simply insert the DVD, choose file mode (or ISO mode), rip and then take it to DVD Shrink...etc. The only way to do this is with the use of a PSL file as Alkohol stated.

I have been using shrink almost exclusively for ripping and burning about 2 years untill recent months. If shrink couldn't rip it I used dvd decryptor first to rip to HD, then shrink to re-author and burn. The exceptions were disney movies that failed. Now, have had more problems with other movies(ie: Flightplan), so I tried dvd Fab decryptor and it worked(still use shrink to re-author and burn)! I've read all the previous posts in this thread and REALLY, don't want to spend 10 hours ripping and burning(what's the point when you can buy a priviously viewed movie for $6.00), my time is worth more than that. DVD decryptor still works fine as does shrink on some movies so I try shrink first, then decryptor and now a third option is Fab. This only takes me 10 mins. to go through and an hour or less I have a copy I can play.

Hi. I was using DVD Shrink 3.1 without any problems until I ran into the ARccOS issue which JaguarGod helped me see how I should be able to overcome that. Well, I went and downloaded DVDShrink 3.2 and since then I can't seem to rip older movies either with it failing during the beginning (0%-25%) of the burning, ruining many DVD+R disks. I read that sometimes the firmware on for the DVD writer drive needs to be updated in this case. I did that but the driver seemed to be the same vintage (2001) as the one that was already installed. Well, I went back to DVD Shrink 3.1 and the problem seems to have gone away so far. Any reason you can think that 3.2 wouldn't work?

That's an odd one. The only thing I could think of is that you have something on your PC that shouldn't be there. Make sure you do not have anything like Drag to Disc or InCD, etc... Also, do a full virus and mal-ware scan with updated software. Oh, and when you uninstall Shrink 3.1, maybe you have to do a more thourough uninstall. There are various programs that can scan your hard drive for parts of software that was previously installed. You can do a search or look for a cleaning tool if one is available.
If this is not the problem, then it could be driver related, but I have no clue in this area. Maybe your mobo drivers need to be updated or you are using generic Windows drivers. Check out the maunfacturers website for your IDE drivers, but do this only after you get more help from others. You should also start a new thread with your problem to get more direct help.
