Hi,
I am trying to copy a 4x dvd-r using DVD Decrypter because I got a bad disc using Nero 6 dvd copier.

When I copied the disc using DVD Decrypter however, I got two files saved...One is a large ISO file and the other is a much smaller MDS file. Which image file do I use to burn to a new dvd-r?

Any help or info would be greatly appreciate :-)

Thanks!

Hi,
Thanks for the reply...

Do you happen to know why they give you the option of both files? I've burned using both and they both played in my dvd player. Is there a difference in the files?

Thanks again :)

The MDS file is merely and identification file. It's really only necessary when you back up an ISO on an non-Windows XP drive that cant't handle files bigger than 4 Gigs. DVD Decrypter will automatically break the ISO file into several chunks, and the MDS file will then combine them back when you burn the disk.

So is burning the ISO file to a dvd-r okay? I actually already did that because I thought it was the correct file. It seems to play okay on my dvd player, but it's for someone else and I want to be sure it's going to be compatible with other players. My system is running on Win XP SP2 if that helps :)

actually DVD Decrypter wont let you pick the wrong file you will get an error message saying "this is not the correct file we will fix it for you this time but dont let it happen again" or something close to that lol and yes it should be compatable on MOST dvd players as long as you keep your burn speed down (4x would be best)
