No Multimedia Audio Controller Driver Found

Ok. I have read many posts on this subject thru afterdawn. But to no avail have I found a solution. In "Devise Manager" my controller has a yellow check mark next to it and it does not have any drivers installed. I have both tried the "CD Resource" disc and have also downloaded drivers from "Dell" and "Soundblaster", "SoundMax" and reload "windows xp home" . I also took out the sound card and looked at it physicaly. Still no sound at all. I have what looks like a amp with a on/off swith on it and when its turned on and off you hear the crackle sound. I am thinking I might need a new sound card unless someone might see something I have left out. Any ideas are more than welcome. Ed

Hey "djscoop" Your right on the money. I believe you are a very talented at your job but unfortunatly I have already been there. Perhaps I should've wrote the web sit down. But I did memtion that I had already been to "Dell" and downloaded their drivers. This trick did not work, Thanks . Ed

wow thats interesting. now I'm a little confused. your specs at the bottom say integrated audio, as in an audio card built into the motherboard, which would be expected from dell, but you say your audio card is an actual PCI card you can remove? If so, what kind of card is it? It should have a brand (I see you mentioned sound blaster) and it should also have a model number. Is it the same kind as the one listen on dell's website?

yeah, if you've got both onboard audio, AND a pci card goin there, you prolly haven't disabled the onboard and are getting a conflict.
go into your bios and disable onboard sound, and then try reinstalling your drivers for the pci.

you shouldn't have conflicts between audio cards, having multiple audio cards is very routine. On my DJ computer I have four audio cards. Check the audio settings in the control panel to see which one you have set as default, if you have two soundcards.

well, cool. was wondering about using multiple cards from different manufactures myself (need to hook up comp speaker 5.1 set, AND 7.1 home theatre, plus integrated headset.) i'm tired of unplugging shit lol.
so, the drivers don't interfere huh? learn somethin new everday!

as long as you use different models you should be fine. for example you could use a SB live card and a SB Audigy card and you shouldn't have any conflicts, but you most likely will if you use two of the same (like two SB Audigys for example)

yep, ok, just finished setting it up with 2 cards and the onboard. all different. just seems i have to set the preferred one for what i want to listen to, which is just fine.

I have been into my BIOS and made a few changes before posting my original message. No luck there . I did change everything back to the way it was though. Ed
