I have been using dvd decrypter for about 4 months already to decrypt movies into my hardrive and I have been using Nero Recode 2 which came with the Nero bundle software of my sony dvd burner.

I have been able to burn hundreds of dvds using these two applications but lately after Nero Recode completes the encoding process and once it starts burning info into the dvd the process gets aborted and it reads on the status that it was aborted due to "illegal disc". I never faced this issue before and I am wondering why it is happening now. I thought that maybe the latest windows update did something to my system that even now that I got the dvd files on the hardrive the software it is able to recognize copyrighted material.

I have used in the past clonedvd and 1clickdvd and had no issues at all, but I am now having the same issue described with nero, the burning process gets aborted at some point.

Can someone give me some insight into solving this situation?

Thank you.

I think posting an e-mail is against forum rules, so edit it out. As for your problem, it may be media related. Your burner may not jsut like your Discs.

What type of discs are you using? Either use DVD Decrypter and post the Media code, or use an app like DVDIdentifier.

Also, since you used Nero, post your log and someone will be able to decypher it and tell you if anything is going on internally.

I have been using US DIGITAL MEDIA DVD-R media. I have been successfully able to burn dvd's using this same media before and by using the same applications.

Try checking your firmware. Open DVD Decrypter and go to "tools=>drives=>check for firmware updates..."

However, do not go and downloaf the firmware. I have never used the site it takes you to and I think these are hacked firmwares. Just look at the number and see if yours is the latest. Then post your drive here and someone will tell you where to go.

If it is out of date, it may cause issues. Also post the media ID of the Discs. Just because they worked before, does not mean they will always work.

To find the ID load the disc into your tray and launch DVD Decrypter. Then go into ISO mode. It will give you some info about your Disc.

Also, post your Nero Log. I do not know how to read it, but others do and they will be able to tell you what went wrong.

I have also tried to burn a movie with DVD Shrink and again the burning process it is aborted. Regardless of which dvd burning software I use I notice that the blank dvd is always burned area of the dvd is the same for each application. I also note on the logs of either Nero or dvd shirnk the following entry that looks very suspicious to me:

"Registry Keys:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\AllocateCDROMs : 0 (Security Option)"

Bigbatboy:

Thank you very much for your help. I have implemented your suggestions ( I updated Nero and the firmware of my dvd burner) but still the issue hasn't been resolved.

I know the media I am using is not the best but I have successfully burned plenty of movies before. The same applies to InCD, it has always been there and Nero always worked fine.

Also, the issue is present even if I used other burning applications including CloneDVD, 1clickdvd, superclone dvd, and DVD Shrink.

I went to my windows registry and I deleted the following suspicius entry:

"HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\AllocateCDROMs : 0 (Security Option)"

After trying again to burn the dvd doing this change to the registry, the log reads the following registry entry on the Nero log:

"HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\"

I do not know what to do because I cannot delete the whole set of entries that reside at the WinLogon section of the registry.

The movies I am trying to burn are the following ones:

Batman Begins, City of God, and Scent of a Woman. Perhaps they have a new encryption mechanism but is I doubt since city of god and scent of a woman are old movies.

I need your help please.

Thank you

Your gonna have to listen to the advice given here, if you want to fix your problem.

sounds logical, but not completely true. Bad media can work fine for 5 discs or 50, and then all of a sudden cause issues even from same spindle of blank media.

Illegal disc

You should try good media. Using good media has fixed hundreds of ppls problems. Also INCD does cause conflicts with Nero. Even Nero knows this as they make the INCD zapper program to get rid of it completely. People make these suggestions to you because doing the suggestion fixes the problem. Many ppl have, and love Roxio, but place Nero on the same system and problems start happening for most ppl. We don't get any kick back or payoff for suggesting one program over another. We suggest these things because you said you were having problems. If you follow the suggestions, you will probably be burning away with a smile on your face. If you start editing out what you want to do, using bad media, buring at 12x, etc.. then expect to continue to have problems. Changing media is usually not a big problem for ppl unless you live on the south pole ice cap or something. Choice of DVD media can be the biggest factor in determining whether you get a good burn, or a failure. Illegal disc is either a firmware issue, or media, and in your case it looks like it is MEDIA and INCD.

keep those in there if you want, but get real good at reading nero error logs.

Sorry if this comes across as harsh, but we can't help you if you don't want to listen.
Also you shouldn't have to worry about that microsoft security registry line. It is there on almost every Nero burn log i have seen, and editing windows registry can cause MAJOR issues unless you know exactly what you are doing. I leave it alone, and occasionally run windows reg clean. Never had any problems.

I will buy new media today and remove INCD as suggested. However, I doubt the new media will make the thing work because again, I have burned 150 dvds using this same media before and it simply has no logic that the media is causing this problem. INCD might be the one causing the mess and I will remove it using that application made by Nero.

I will be back later with the results of this attempts.

I want to THANK ALL OF YOU for your help. Last night I was able to burn again!!! I used the suggested tool to remove INCD and I bought a pack of 10 SONY DVD+R and I was able to burn flawlessly and even at 16x!

Now I am trying to buy a 100 pack of Sony Dvd's but I can't find them anywere online or at a regular store. Does anyone know where can I buy a 100 pack of Sony blank dvds either online or in NYC?

Thanks again!

Online, you can check out supermediastore.com. Look for Taiyo Yuden DVD+R 8x. These are either going to be the same discs or better than the ones you have.

Jaguargod:

Unfortunately, the supermediastore does not sell SONY media and the places where I found it would only sell 8x...so I went ahead and bought Taiyo Yuden 16x CD-R.

Do you have any preference between + or - formats? Is one of them better than the other?
