maybe you have too much firewall install.Or the torrent you're downloading is dead(no one is seeding it).

Things that affect speed INCLUDE;
* Amount of Seeds
* Seed to Peer ration (low seeds, high peers = generally slow)
* As stated in the previous post, make sure there are seeders! (I usually accept 10 as my minimum, depends on the ratio, size of file(s), and how desperately I need the torrent)
* Incorrect Port forwarding
* ISP p2p throttling (not much you can do here besides changing ISP)
* Upload speed configuration (usually 80% of your max upload is a good number)
* Firewall configurations, both software (e.g. ZoneAlarm, Windows Firewall) and hardware (unlikely for most home users)
* The actual computer itself, possbile spyware, adware, general system speed.
* Usually torrents need upwards of an hour to reach "max" torrent speed

As a side note, BT Engine is a bit subjective in its claims, so try downloading with and without it - as stated above, give it at least an hour before noting down the speed when comparing.

Hope this helps.

That is not neccarily true...I can get 150kbps a sec usually 1 min into the download after it connects to all the seeders and peers.

Again peers usually upload when they download. That is why BT works so well.

Thats quite possible. Not all users are the same - different conenction speeds, peer count, hence why I said upwards meaning from a few seconds (your case) to an hour. I have no idea what conenction they have, so Im giving them a "safe" waiting time, which IMO covers a broad range of scenarios.

Very true, but have you seen those torrents where there are tonnes of peers, few seeders and all the leechers have the same % of a torrent? Thats when amount of seeds becomes an even bigger factor ind etermining the speed at which you download.
