installed memory upgrade now i have no audio

i disconnected my tower then installed a memory upgrade and when i connected it back and turned it on everything works fine except i get no audio. I remember when i first started it up after i installed the memory upgrade there was a "new installation" icon, it was something like crystal soundfusion but i didnt know what it was and i think deleted it but now when i restart it i get an icon "multimedia audio controller" in the lower right and then it turns to something along the lines of "the was a problem with installation".

in the device manager list thers is a yellow question mark and exclamtion next to "multimedia audio controller". I downloaded and installed this http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=1... but i still get nothing. when i double click "multimedia audio controller" from the device manger list and do the wizard thing it says "hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software"

under sound, video and game controllers when i click legacy audio drivers then properties then properties again, then click audio devices it says cannot load santa cruz wdm interface driver. the driver file may be missing.

if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.
