Over usage and wearing out Recorder Question?

This is probably a dumb question. I have a lot of recording to do. How many hours at a time can I safely run the recorder without overheating it and wearing it out? How often should I let it "rest" ? I don't want to mess it up or wear it out by over usage.

The whole purpose of the recorder is to use it and wear it out. After all, you don't buy one just to look at it. My older LiteOn LVW-5005 has had daily use for well over a year and it has held up much better than I anticipated. I finally bought another to take some of the load off of it .. I figure that I've probably gotten maybe 2,000 hours of service out of it so far

You probably wouldn't want to use your recorder as a player since you can buy a player for $25 that work well

Unlike a VCR which has alot of moving parts and tape heads that get dirty and worn out, the only thing that can affect your DVD player is a dirty lens from dust. DVD recorders with hard drives is another matter because they are always recording and the hard drive is very fragmented after awhile making it even harder on the drive heads to read. Use your common sense and give it a rest when you think it's overheating.

Thank you. So the only thing to worry about is letting it cool off a little every so often during usage.
