WMV HD files - On a DVD? Can it be HD?

Can i load Windows Media HD content onto a DVD and play it as a 720p source through my Marantz DV7600 upscaling player. I know it can upscale everything i give it to 720p pretty well, but i would like to try some true High Def material and my PC is much too far away from the Projector and DVD player to even attempt that (3 floors away).

I know from my past experience that i would most likely need to re-author the WMV files to MPEG2 before creating the VIDEO_TS structure. My knowledge in this area would lead me to believe therefore that the 720p structure and signal would be lost and downconverted to 576i PAL format using the TPMGEnc tool.

Therefore, my question is this: Is there a way to play HD material through a Marantz DV7600 (or any top DVD player without DivX compatibility). I want to test my new PTAE900 Projector for HD material and Sky+HD doesnt come out in the UK until February or March.

No. The highest bitrate you get get on DVD is 8Mbps. HD is alot higher than that. Unless you can get your PC to play the WMV HD over your TV, which might not be good for your TV unless it says it can be hooked up to a PC, you'll have to get a HD cable or satellite box or HD tape or hard drive recorder.
