hello..
i need some advise badly.. i started playing World of Warcraft a couple of days ago.... and it started being very jerky today because i got to ironforge a town with alot of people in it.. it went so bad that i cant play it... its about 1 frame every 10 seconds on some parts... i dont think its a connection problem.. i need more ram or a better cpu... i'm going to buy some parts tommorow... cause i cant let something like this spoil my game...
the thing is i dont know what my mother board can handle.... surley its not called dell dimension 8200 is it???
i think my proccessor could be bigger will it be a bad idea to upgrade my prccessor??
and i'm looking for about 700+ memory if its possible.. maybe someone has done this before ? my specs are below :
Motherboard:
CPU Type Intel Pentium 4, 2000 MHz (20 x 100)
Motherboard Name Dell Dimension 8200
Motherboard Chipset Intel Tehama i850(E)
System Memory 384 MB (RDRAM)
BIOS Type Phoenix (12/07/01)
please pleaase please help me i'll be soo greatfull you cant imagine.. i'll die if i have to stop playing wowc just as its getting amazing

You can go to the Dell site and put in the "service code" for your computer and it will tell you what sort of memory upgrade options the motherboard will handle. You can buy the memory anywhere, but write down the type of memory and check out newegg.com for good stuff at good prices.
Also you can download the free version of Everest and it will tell you everything that's in your computer.

was supposedly at 1st but more expensive to manufacture than ddr ram. also rdram doesn't have the speed like ddr, example rdram speed limit is about pc800 whereas ddr is about pc3200.

well.. i found out that with rdram in my computer ther is four slots.. so i'm going to take 2 slots away from my 384 so i'll have 192 then i'm going to add 2x 256 to replace the 2x 96mb ram that i took out making 704mb or somthin
i think thats how it works any way... ...doesn't it?
meh..

but how does it work then.. i have four slots in my computer for rdram.. and it adds up to 384mb... i've never hear of 96 either.. but it is 4 years old... i think the most that was around then was about 512mb, 1024mb was rare when i got this
i asked some guy from a store that sells ram, if a 512 rdram memory will fit my computer etc... and he said it will, but i'll have to buy 2 of them because they have to be joind in pairs.. so i'll just get 2 x256, cause all i really need is 512mb to keep me going till i do my full rebuild
