It seems to take me a long time to download stuff from Azureus 2.3.0.4. It takes about 20 hours to download a movie. My internet speed is 1meg NTL Broadband. Is this slow? Can I speed it up?
Thanks.

Well, how many seeds are on the download? If you download a torrent with a good amount of seeds (50+) then you will most likely reach optimum speeds, otherwise, it is unlikely you will.

Please read all the stickies.

Configuration is paramount in determining your download speeds (in addition to seed numbers, aswell as seed-to-peer ratio).

So please ensure that you have configured port forwarding(if applicable), firewalls (if any)and Azureus (or any BT client for that matter) correctly.

As a side note, a 1mb(megabit) line is capable of;
1 * 1024 = 1024 kilobits per second
1024 * 1024 = 1048576 bits persecond
1048576 / 8 = 131072 bytes per second
131072 / 1024 = 128 Kilobytes per second.

So, your total Azureus download speed will not exceed (the theoretical) 128 kilobytes per second.

Hehe, well I have reached and sustained speeds into the mid 130kb/s on my one meg line. Maybe I just have a very efficient service...

1 meg is 1 meg.

Most commonly though, it is 1.5 :D

Which, as you can figure out, gives a max of 192 kilobytes/sec.
