Panasonic DMR-ES10 & Sky

i brought my first dvd recorded today, a panasonic DMR-ES10, and am having trouble tuning it into the sky channel. All of the other TV channels tuned in fine when the auto-setup was run. I've tried tuning in Sky manually - i can get the sound but the picture is terrible (all black and white lines).

I can't connect the dvd recorder to the sky box as the dvd recorder is in my bedroom and the sky box has to stay downstairs in the living room for the family to use. Besides, I've never had to connect previous video recorders to the sky box in order to be able to record programmes on sky.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
