I just downloaded the newest update for DVDFab (v2.9.6.2).
Earlier - when I downloaded the first version, I put the desktop icon in a different folder.
When I download the newest version, it gave me a new icon on my desktop.
1st Question: Is the latest version an actual update or a seperate program from my first downloaded version?
2nd Question: Does DVDFab actually need to used with the old DVD Decrypter? In other words, if I were to uninstall the old DVD Decrypter program, would DVDFab work as well? Right now I'm utilizing both programs (DVDFab hops on the back of DVD Decrypter).
Probably stupid quetions, but nonetheless are on my mind.

I'm a little confused as to what 2 proggys you have. There is a DVD Decrypter program and also a DVDFAB Decrypter. They are 2 different programs and each can be used by itself. DVD Decrypter no longer will be updated and will be removed from the download section this Sunday. So if you want it get it now. DVDFAB Decrypter is somewhat new and is being updated on a regular basis. There is also a DVDFAB EXPRESS which is like a full version program with more features but is not free. DVD Decrypter and DVDFAB Decrypter are FREE at this time.

1) If I remember correctly, DVD Fab Decrypter update would install as an independent program. So if you do not uninstall the older version, you'll get two versions on your pc. You may check both folders to confirm. But I would suggest set up a restore point, uninstall the old verion, then install the update for all programs.
2) DVD Fab Decrypter works on its own with or without DVD Decrypter. So if you don't need DVD Decrypter anymore, you can simply uninstall it, and DVD Frab Decrypter will still rip dvds to harddisk.

DVDdecrypter is both a ripper and a burner.
DVDFab decrypter is just a ripper.
The full version (retail) of DVDFab I beleive contains a burner as well as a ripper.
Too bad about DVDdecrypter though. Great program.

Yes, great burner, but not a ripper anymore. I'm gonna set imgburn up as my main burn engine one of these days. There was a thread about how to do this somewhere, I need to find it again. I think that temj knows which thread it is, so if you are reading this...please.
Cheers.

Try on over at the ImgBurn site, you can join the forum and get loads of info on the proggy from the creator himself.

Hey all!
Thanks for all the replies. I think I'm going to try uninsalling the old DVD Decryter (I have it backed up on a cd anyway). Then I will try uninstalling both DVDFabs, and reinstalling the newest DVDFab version. I will see if DVD Shrink Burns it without being tied in with the old DVD Decrypter.
