I took a Philips 8601 DVD-CD RW out of a Dell Dimension 3000 and put it into a dell Dimension 4300s and it reads and plays fine but will not write anything. When I try to make a burn a cd I get a prompt that reads:
'There are no available cd-recorders available...'
same thing when I try to burn a cd.
How can I get it to write/burn/

Short answer is to dump that junk drive and get a different brand of drive. Other brands have had some problems, but I have seen so many posts in these forums and forums outside of here, about the trouble folks have had with Philips drives, that I would never have one.
