I have just backed up my War of the Worlds movie onto a Verbatim dvd+r dl disc in which was successfully burned. although i have 2 questions in regards to this.
1. when burning an orignal copy of a movie onto dl media, is it in anyway compressed..or do dl media carry enough room for all dvd-9 movies?? i noticed that war of the worlds was a pretty big movie.
2. while watching my backup copy of war of the worlds, at around 45 minutes into the movie there was some pixualted freezing problems...so i stopped the movie and turned it back on and went directly to the same scene in which this happened. there were no freezing or pixulated problems when i did this. so is it possible for the heating upon dl media which causes this?? or what should i do about this? im very aware that verbatim dl media are excellent discs.

If there isn't enough space on a DL disc then it wouldn't automatically compress for you. You would have to run it through a program to compress. I can't remember a time when a DL couldn't fit everything on it, mostly b/c I haven't done that many DLs. But I would assume you'd get some sort of error or it just wouldn't have the last few parts.

What speeds arre you burning at. W/ DLs you really shouldn't be going faster than 2x, 2.4x.

if it plays fine on dvd player #2, but messes up on #1, then generally the problem is with player #1, not the media.

@JBonD_007, I use DL's as a bnackup for major blockbusters, and then make a backup on single layer...Remember to always booktype DL +R Verbs to Dvd Rom or -R, and as already mentioned burn at correct speeds...typically I burn at 2x or 2.4x...not a problem and I played the DL or WOTWs in all players, including my Denon 2200 (picky and gets very warm, actually I feel the Denon plays better Progressive scan material when warmed up) and not a problem as you mentioned, but I burn slow and booktype or bitset them to -R...just wanted to help. Have agood one.

Is player #1 an xbox or PS2 by any chance, b/c I know for a fact that those will give you probs.
