ok...this is slowly starting to get on my nerves.... I built a computer a few months back....... everything was woprking fine up untill recently.... my original specs were

mobo: ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe
cpu; AMD Athlon 64 3000+
GPU: ATI RAdeon X300 256mb (PCI-E)
ram: 512x2 Crosshair
Maxtor 120gb IDE hdd
Maxtor 200gb SATA hdd
optical drive: Sony Dru (cant remember specific)...dvd+/- writer
psu: 450W "Safe power"

Everything was just fune upp untill recently (few eeeks ago)....when my pc started bluescreening on me...at first I thought it was windows....it was needing an overhaul anyway.....so i reinstalled....same problem.... I checked my temps through SpeedFan

my cpu was at around 40 idle and went up to 48-50 when under load.... figuring maybe that was the problem I got a new coole...now my pc idles around 38ish...give or take....and under full load it goes up to maybe 47.... the bluescreening kept happening.... I switched around my ram, but that seemed to be fine...I also noticed that the little fan on my mobo was spinning above 7000rpms most of the time, nearing 8000....so I changed chipset fans.....and still the problem presists....I even tried keeping the side off my case and aiming a big room fan it....i dont know if it helped or i just got lucky but it after a while it still died..... on the weekend im going to take out my gpu and stick in the one my mobo came with and see if that's causing the problem maybe.... right now my cpu is at 38C, my mobo at 40C and my ide at 44C with my sata at 42C (I also noticed that sometimes, especially my ide will heat up quickly to 46C even if im barely running any programs off it (I run windows and my programs off that and I have all my music, movies etc on the SATA)............this has been bugging me lately because I've spent a good bit of time trying to fix this and nothing seemed to have worked....and money is an issue as well.... Im a highschool student so a part time unbcome is all i can work with....and especially with xmas coming up these extra expenses are starting to get on my nerves..... if any of you guys have any ideas, i'd really appreciate it, sorry for all the questions....thanks alot :)

check the can shaped objects that are capacitors on the motherboard are flat topped not domed. use a pencil eraser on the gold contacts on the ram sticks to get rid of oxidation.

You started out with a good cpu temp.....that should not have been a prob. You went the right direction in switching the chipset fans just to be on the safe side.

Next step would be to strip it of everything it does not need. Put in a known good vid card and boot it. I'm guessing it is your vid card or the drivers for your vid card. Drivers can do funny things to Windows.

Good luck...post results
