Hey guys. Just ordered a BenQ 1620 Pro DL DVD Burner. From what I have read on it, seems to be a good buy. Any input from you guys would be great. Thanks

Thanks DakotaFan. I read many posts about DVD Burners and the BenQ seemed to be highly rated. The one I ordered was the Pro edition. Wasnt sure if or what the difference was between the BenQ 1640 and the BenQ 1640 Pro. Thanks!

Juliano: I've got 2 benq 1620s and also a 1640. All are super drives. They love the plus format media, and booktype them to dvd-rom for near perfect compatable backups on stand alone players.

DL burning is no problem.Even copying on the fly is a piece of cake!

Here's some of the media I use,and have over a 99%+ success rate:
Verbatim: Mcc-002/003/004
Fuji/sony +8x: Yuden000-T02
Maxell: Maxell-002-00/ritek-g04/g05/ty-g01/Mxl-rg02/03
Office depot +8x: Ritek-r03
Ricohjpn-r02

In fact,I haven't encountered any media that my benqs don't like!

Benq 1620 Retail/pro: There is a different firmware version for these and maybe some extra goodies that come with the pro,but both are fine burners.

Just post back your firmware version. I've got lots of links to the benq site for firmware updates and the handy booktyping utility called Q-suite.You will be very happy with that 1620. I've got 1700+ burns on mine in the last 12 months.300+ on the fly without a coaster.Only 1 burn coaster this year.I've got 400+ burns on my spare 1620 and not a single bad one. These are excellent burners for $40
