you have the celeron version of the p4. the difference between a true p4 & celeron is the amount of ram cache on the cpu. the celeron has either 128k(northwood) or 256k(prescott). the true p4 has 512k cache & up.

the P4s with hyper threading use a different socket (775) so thats out of the question anyway

Studio Comp: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ OC ~ 2.35GHz runs at 40 celcius idle and 48 under stress (aerocool GT1000 really works!), Asrock K7VT4A , 1024MB Dual Channel DDR 400, MSI Nvidia FX5200 128MB OC ~ 600MHz mem 350MHz core,80GB SATA + 200GB SATA + 120GB IDE, 7.1 Channel Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum EX sound and midi interface. 19" Sony SDM-HS95 TFT monitor - sweeet
Comp2: AMD Sempron 2400+ OC ~ 2.0GHz (Stable), Asrock K7S41GX, 512MB DDR 333, Onboard Graphics, 40GB Maxtor IDE

set of monitors on the way soon :P
Google is your friend...
WorkComp: LAPTOP, intel celeron D 2.4GHz, 256MB DDR, 20GB hd. NO SCREEN IT WAS SAWN OFF :S (bag of crap)

Hyper-Threading is definately available on 478 pin CPU's.
Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz (Prescott) Socket 478 FSB800 1MB Etc...

The question you need to answer however, is your MB chipset capable of supporting HT technology, otherwise your CPU will work, but the HT will not.

depends on the bios maybe as my previous board wouldn't see a prescott cpu but had no problem with northwood cpu & already check for bios update. no go.

you might want to rethink that hyperthreading issue and look towards a dual core processor.the new bus rate is fast as hell and the dual cores are out benchmarking the intel chips in alot of tests on the net....just figured i would throw you for a loop alittle bit.....peace....plus in the spring the m2`s are coming.cant wait to see how they do...and prices will probably drop again...something to think about anyway.heres some good review sites:

heres two of them amd dual cores vs intel sites and three good review sites...see for yourself ,right in black in white...lol...peace
