this is probly in the rong catagory but im having trouble installing windows media player i dont no what happen to the computer one day i went to use it and it wasnt there but i downloaded it and tryied to install it a window came up and says the version is not for this operating system i got windows xp with service pack 2 and i downloaed the one for windows xp so i dont no whats rong i dont no y it wont install for me the laptop was running it befor with no problems

Not accusing you of anything, but is this a legit copy of Windows XP? Did the laptop come with it? If it is a copy/pirated the windows validation may be causing some issues.

If it is legit, how are you getting the media player? The best way is to use Windows/Microsoft Update, as it will insure you get the right version.

unless your installing an older version of media player i dont see how there could be a problem have you tried media player 10 this works fine on SP2 (whether its legit or not :P )
