I have the AMD 64 4000 CPU, and I am wanting to get me a really good mobo. I have the Radeon X800 XL (PCI Express) as my video card. I am big into gaming and I dont know what mobo to get nor what sound card. does anybody have suggestion. Did I make the correct choice of purchasing the 64 4000, or should I have gone for the X2 3800. I dont want to spend alot of money, I want to keep my mobo under $175. What should I get and does any one have any suggestion. Should I get nVidia over ATI, or did I make the correct decission with the Radeon?
Thanks for your help in advanced...........

This is the BEST mobo out there now.

http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2620

It has CRAZY OC performance, like no other motherboard.

The second best "might" be this one.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131568

(It also has a reveiw at anandtech, look for it.)

You are MUCH better off spending a few bucks for the best OC motherboard, and less money of the processor, because then you can OC that less expensive processor to much higher levels. ;)

ZipZoomFly.com has the Audigy 2ZS Platinum sound card for $70 after $100 MIR to 12/04/05.

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=290226

It has the nifty remote control and is supported by ALL games. The X-Fi is Creative's newest but it has compatibility issues as of now (good old "bleeding edge" thing).

The DFi board is a cracker, but can be a bit fussy when it comes to ram. Demon dog is right about it being the best about.
The Asus board is also very good but unless your gonna go with a uber-Sli setup then it's gonna be kinda wasted you would be better off going for this Asus mobo http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=15&l3=0&model=539&mode... over the AN832 SLi.
As for your graphics card it's still a very good card with a bit of overclocking it will scream through games :)

i have an asus a8n32 deluxe mobo.i like it right now.i say that cause i bought a asrock mobo awhile ago and burned it up....lol.it matters what you are looking to do.if you want to oc,as the dog says, dfi has the highest overclocks around.if you dont overclock and you want a board that games real well,go from this board i have.this asus a8n 32 deluxe mobo has a feature built into it called ai nos which is like adding nitros oxcide to you cpu when you need it.im playing fear,cod2,king kong, need for speed most wanted, etc at max, full setting and everyother game i have i play ultra or the highest setting aroung.i also have a good video card too but the mobo has alot to do with proformance also.this mobo does need to be put in a good case because it does throw some heat out.i had this board overclocked to a 2.95 mhz@1.65v....2252 1T@3v....11 x 55....couldnt get any higher but im a beginner at overclocking.so i hope this helps you decide.....peace

jonni3, DFI boards will take any sort of RAM, the problems people have are in trying to use VALUE RAM on the board. The boards are set up for high performance and the bios "expects" to have RAM with low latencies, so if you build with Value RAM (which has HIGH latencies, thus the reason they are cheap or "value") then you need to change the RAM timings in the bios before it will even boot. But many folks don't know this and blame the board.

The new DFI expert board is da' bomb, I'm so p.o.'d that it came out two months after I bought mine. This board is better in just about every way and has set a new performance bar, the article on anandtech.com and their test results are amazing. If I was building my system now then I'd use the new DFI EXPERT board and a dual core Opteron socket 139 chip. :)
