I'm having an audio sync problem on one project. I'm using AutoGK and on just one set of vob files, I'm getting out of sync audio on the finished avi file. The original rip seems fine too. It plays fine. I've tried converting it four times now, and it's always out of sync. I've tried it bothe before and after doing others one which all came out right.I havn't had this problem with any others. I made other ones both before and after this one, and those are fine. Anyone know what could be the problem here?
Download that software and extract it to a foder. You don't have to install it, just run it from wherever you extracted it to (a new folder called 'Vdub' for example).
Start VirtualDub and from the File menu, select Open Video File to open your messed up AVI.
Now from the Audio menu, select 'Interleaving'.
Where it says "Delay audio track by ___ ms" you have to enter a value for the difference in sync. If the sound happens before it's supposed to, you enter a positive number. If the sound happens after it's supposed to, you enter a negative number. (remember, 1000 ms = 1 second)
Now you can test to see if you have the right value. Click ok to accept the delay you entered.
At the lower left of the screen there are some icons. The left most is a square, it's the stop button. Right next to that is the play button. Press that to preview your audio modification. You have to press stop before you can do much of anything else.
Trial and error should get you into sync. When your ready to save your changes, you should make sure that (direct Stream Copy) is selected on both the audio and video menus. (that way, you don't re-encode the audio or video, you just re-mux them together).
Select Save as AVI from the File menu, and give it a separate name from the original. When it's done, try playing the new AVI from your favorite media player. :)
I'll try what you said. Thanks for explaining it. I'm familiar with Vdub, used it often, but only know how to do a few things with it. I already deleted my last messed up AVI, so I'll have to make another.I don't know why this one would be different either, unless somehow the rip is bad. The ripped files don't have a sync problem when played. I tried converting it over and over, though. I tried both XviD and divx5. I know, it's weird. It's never happened before.

I'll try one of those other converters, see how that works. I did try "1Click DVD to DivXXviD Avi" , and the same thing happened.
I got it fixed. I made another AVI with AutoGK. I tried using Power Video Converter, but couldn't get it going right. Once I got my messed up file back using AutoGK, I opened it in Vdub and got it fixed in no time.
I had to learn how to install an audio decompressor, because I was getting an error message at first.
