Hi Guys!

I'm looking to copy my retail DVD's and have a few questions. First off, which program would be best if I were looking to make exact copies of my collection minus the encryptions and region code? I've used DVD Shrink and it's pretty much self explanatory. I do, however, have a few questions about DVD Decrypter. Below I've posted screen shots of my settings within DVD decrypter.

Again, with my aim being to keep the DVD Images as retail as possible minus only the region code/encryptions.. do I have the right settings? This is assuming DVD Decrypter is the best program for me.. Is it?

I've gone ahead and created a few images using those settings no problem but when I went to burn them.. lol.. I got this:

I browsed through some of the older threads and found out that others too have reported the same problem. They were using Memorex DVD+R DL as am I. lol Shame on me for thinking all media is created equal. Looking over the information it's probably safe to assume it's the media... right? I'm going out to buy a few packs of Verbatim tonight.

I'm using an Iomega Super DVD Burner USB2.0 and it IS compatible with DVD+R DL at 4x

Should I get it working.. do you recommend I burn through Nero or DVD Decryper (or does it matter?)

Couple other questions I have are:

If I were to make a DVD Image using DVD Decrypter, generate an MD5 value for the image, burn it using dvd decrypter/nero, create a DVD image off the burned disc using Decrypter (using the same settings) and generate another MD5 for the new image.. would they match? lol Yeah, it's a mouthful

I've seen a few posts claiming the burned disc skips at the second layer mark... is that common or even true?

Thanks for your time and I appreciate any answers you may provide

I'll be around

With that lite-on drive I would recommend using Verbatum,Maxell, and tiyo yeden +R media. If you must burn to DL media use verbatum. Personally I like to keep it simple using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink and then using AnyDVD and clonedvd2 for movies decrypter and shrink can't decrypt. Also there is a booktype tool you can download off of lite-on website. +R media booktyped to dvd-rom will play on more stand alone players. If you have the processor speed 3 gig plus and memory 1gig plus and preferably WD rapture hard drives SATA(10,00rpm), You can just use DVD Shrink on most movies and let it do it's thing rip and shrink at the same time, then burn .iso file with DVD Decrypter. If you must rip with DVD Decrypter rip in file mode and leave everything else default settings. Personally I have not seen many disk quality test that looked very good on DL media. I use shrink to compress movies at 50% and can not see the diffrence in quality using D5 media.

Good Luck
