as this one provided me with a laugh (needed after all these pesky Madagascar threads) i'll copy/paste my solution, to save your little fingers :)

i recently did Madagascar effortlessly with DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.6.0 (free) then Shrunk with DVD Shrink as normal. what i did do was use my dvd-rom/cd-write combo drive (like io do for most of my ripping); didn't try to rip it on any of my dvd burners as i'd done the movie already but it's always nice to have a couple of optical drives..as if a movie won't play ball on one drive you always have a choice of drives to use..

Also...in case this helps at all I was able to use AnyDVD and CloneDVD to burn the movie with original audio and commentary track, and the Penguin cartoon perfectly onto a disc with no compression at all. Also, I found it worked better when I chose NOT to preserve menus. This...after failing miserably to do anything but a complete disc burn with DvdXCopy.
