Can anyone help me, my samsung 913v flat screen monitor is acting a little funny,for some reason the screen is now showing everything in a funny color and when i unplug the lead from back of monitor it say no signal cable , which is right, BUT ... the no signal cable box has a funny kind of trailer effect when it is moving. is this fixable or is it knackered.
please let me know if someone out there knows anything or if there is software for testing the monitor .
any ideas would be welcome
regards

is the screen still a funny colour when it gives you the no signal message or only when its plugged into the PC? if its only in the PC try the monitor on another computer as it may be your graphics. but if its all the time its probably going to be a fault with the monitor itself which means youll have to buy a new one im afraid or make good use of any warranty you may have for it

well theres still the off chance that the vga cable is dodgy u should try using a cable you know to work before poking around inside the monitor as if it is the cable you could end up breaking a perfectly good monitor that you could have given to me :P

Probably is a loose connection then. not a lot that can be done in that case if youd had it less than a year it should still be under a manufactuerer warranty give the people who made the monitor a phone call, tell them your problem and they may replace it for free if your in luck
p.s you may need proof of purchase for this some companies can be funny like that

the de-gausing didnt work, going to take a look at inside pcb and check for scorch marks and make sure the continuity of all wires is ok before i give up on this.

you cant degauss a TFT or LCD monitor its just not possible as they dont build up magnetism because they have not cathode tubes inside them like a CRT monitor. this is also why TFTs arent affected by magnets either.
If your still under warranty just get the damn thing replaced if you poke around inside all youll do is break the warranty and probabaly the monitor even more. (unless of course you have the best soldering iron and soldering skill the world has ever seen :P )
TFT = Thin Film Transfer
LCD = Liquid Crystal Display
CRT = Cathode Ray Tube
:P

it is 6 moths out of the 3 year warranty that is why like most people with common sense i would have changed it.but i cant :(
so i will have a tinker with it.or i may take it to pc shop and as my mate to have a look at it and give me a price on getting it fixed, if its to much then no loss.i will throw the thing , like i said i am getting a new one anyway, just thought some peeps here might have had the same prob and maybe there was an easy way of fixing , seems there isnt so thanks to all of your ideas and effortsd but i think that its time to get rid of it

Well i wouldnt take it to a PC shop as they will very doubtfully be able to fix it your better off taking it to a hardware appliance repair shop or someone who can fix tvs may be able to repair it. IT techs dont usually fix monitors they just order new ones or get someone else to fix them
