that doesnt sound like a problem with the graphics card to me but if your mobo has built in graphics try booting up the pc without your grfx card in and the monitor plugged to the motherboard to see if you still get the same problem

if you do try doing a system restore (if you have win xp) or reinstalling windows

Also let me know the specs of your system (processor, motherboard etc)

Studio Comp: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ OC ~ 2.35GHz runs at 40 celcius idle and 48 under stress (aerocool GT1000 really works!), Asrock K7VT4A , 1024MB Dual Channel DDR 400, MSI Nvidia FX5200 128MB OC ~ 600MHz mem 350MHz core,80GB SATA + 200GB SATA + 120GB IDE, 7.1 Channel Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum EX sound and midi interface. 19" Sony SDM-HS95 TFT monitor - sweeet

it may be that your sis has infected your pc with a virus or some spyware when trying to install DVD Shrink. you should try doing a system restore. you do this by going to

start> all programs> accessories> system tools> system restore

that will bring up a window that gives you the option to either create a restore point or restore your computer to an earlier time

select the option to restore your computer and pick a restore point off the calender (id reccomend goin to one of the "system checkpoints" from any date before your pc screwed up) then just let it run its course.

all being well when the whole process is complete evrything should be fine

hope this helps :P

Sounds to me like Windows got corrupted and maybe your video drivers where affected.

Right Click My Computer> Properties> Hardware Tab> Device Manager> On the drop down list can you see anything with a little yellow exclamation mark on it?

Or it might be a good idea to pop in your Windows CD and run a repair.

Run a windows repair m8.
Pop in your cd, reboot, hit delete to enter the bios, Change primary boot device to CD, Save Changes, Reboot, Hit enter to start installation, then hit F8, then R for repair.
Should take like 35minutes

yes system restore can take you back as far as the furthest restore point which may be from the day you bought the pc. Give it a try youd be amazed how often it works and it really is the simplest solution to most of these kind of problems.

it only takes about 10 mins max for the whole process

alternatively

boot from xp disc
choose repair
choose o/s
press enter for admin
type chkdsk /r thats chkdsk space /r
this takes about an hour and checks and replaces corupted windows files
mostly means all the gear you've installed is still there

you can do a repair

but its a lot less time consuming and a whole lot easier to system restore

all you had to do was copy autoexec.nt from the windows\repair folder & paste it into either the system or system32 folder which would have avoided this new problem.
