Hey all,
I have star wars battlefront II in rar format. I used winrar to extract the rar files. It then gave me one large rar file with an iso extension, however, it is still zipped. So I decided to unzipped it again, it then give me data folders and some individual files. What should I do with these files? should I use alcohol 120 to make iso image then burn it again under the ps2 format?

the large .iso file is the 1 you need to burn.

thank you again sly. I guess I wasn't explaining the problem correctly. star wars battlefront 2 is 1.8 gig in rar format. After the extraction, I get a single rar file with iso extension that is 4.5 gig. The file then had to be extracted again because it's in rar format. After I extracted the file, it gives me the following folders: CNF, DATA, IRX, LICENSE, NETGUI, NETIRX. then I got about 4 single files: loadera.elf, slus_212.40, swbfrnt2.elf, system.cnf. Should I use Alcohol 120 to make an iso of these files first before burning them onto a DVD? also, When I tried to burn ps2 image files, it doesn't give me the option of burning in the ps2 format like it did when I burn ps2 cd version games.

No, its not in rar format, it in iso format. You must just have .iso images associated with WinRAR. Ill say it again, burn the iso file.

Thanks to you all folks, and if I may add, I had several tries to burn this iso image using Nero, alcohlo, and DVD Decrypter, but all the result didn't work. even my pc refused to open the burned dvd, and said that is empty dvd !!!. I tried to unrar the iso, and burn the result as ps2 dvd, but this didn't work also.
this happend with several iso, several burning software, several media types, and several dvd burners !!!!, which made me think that there is a broblem in the procedure it self. please help

He means is your burning program only in Test mode - as in it only TESTS the burn procedure to see if it would work if you actually did burn it.

I'm sorry, you were all right (It was my first time using DVD decryptor). This time I did uncheck test mode button when burning this iso image, and I've got my dvd no.9 that did not boot in PS2 and my pc did not recognized it, it keep spinning forever!!. But if this will help, the log report state that burning was success but the verifing was wrong, it could not read sector 1.(next time I'll save this log for you to see).

BTW, since you downloaded it off the net, there are no guarantees that its a working iso to begin with.

So it is assumed that if the iso file in good condition, all I have to do is just burning it, with no extra settings, patching, or processing?? (finally please, what is BTW ?)

Thanks AGAIN SLY!! You are a Whiz at this!! After I burnt it, it worked like a charm. The loading is a bit slower than usual, is there any way to speed it up?

effat63 yes it is assumed that IF the ISO is in good condition all you will have to do is burn it off to DVD as most of the time the packs on the net/newsgroups are already worked over so that they'll be good to go on disk.
As per Qbert what grade disk are they? Are they 8x, 4x? Usually a good rule of thumb is to burn at half the disk speed, so a 8x would be burned at 4x. But sometimes you get really crappy load times, only time I've ever had this was with my backup of DragonBall Z Tenkaichi.

Imation aren't considered to be one of the best brands for ps2 backups either.. you might want to get some 8x DVD-R discs from taiyo yuden, verbatim, ritek, tdk, sony and a few other good brands, there are plenty of threads on this forum that discuss good media... and burn at 4x on the 8x discs.

Thanks all folks, no i understand that i'm comming out of the stone age. while you are talking about 4x and 8x, my wrighters are NEC 2X and samsung 2.4x !!, and the media i got are Intenso (with no speed lable) and philips which state that the speed is 1x to 2.4x !!!
i start to beileve that it is speed compatibility problem.

Just out of interest, because I've not seen any dvds with max speed of 2.4... they're not dvd rw are they?
Or did you mean that 2.4 is the max that your burner will go?
You may want to consider getting a new dvd writer.. they are so cheap now, I live in the UK and can get a brand new NEC which has all the usual 16x writing speed for + and - etc, and also records dvd-ram now too for about £30.. but most dvd writers are about the same price now so it's more a matter of preference for brand than anything... a lot of people go for the sony DRU series.

Thanks for your interest paddymail, that speed was stated by the software due to the old media i have in stock. I bought new blanks (TDK 8X)which solved this problem. finally i succeded to burn iso image with alcohol120% at 4x.
