I am trying to backup my copy of nfs. I do the straight read write process with DVD Decrypter. It boots fine in the ps2 but during racing it loads when it should not have to. It also freezers allot and the music is constantly stopping. The media I am using is TDK DVD-R. Are these good disks or are they causing me the problem. Or is it something completely different causing me the problems.
Thanks for your help.

i think its ur burn speed. reburn the game at a higher speed, maybe 4x. If that still doesn't help, try rebuilding the game, and then burning it at the same higher speed.

4x is fine... but if your slowest burn speed is 4x then you're probably using 16x media maybe? it's better to get 8x media and burn at 4x.
When burning remember to turn off internet and all non-essential programs (everything apart from operating system programs), that includes internet too... and while it's burning don't use the computer for anything else.
let me know how you got on?
good luck

"some TDK will code out as CMC Mag same as memorex which is NO GOOD"
well that may be true but I have some Maxell -r discs and they too come up as CMC Mag and they work like a charm on everything I use them for.
They come up as CMC Mag according to DVD Decrypter.

That may be the case for now. But at some point those disks will break down, a game you really want won't boot, or your PS2 laser will simply wear down from the cheap dyes on the CMC Mag media. There's never a good reason to use CMC Mag media, it's awful. You can pick up some Taiyo Yuden's or Verbatim's at http://www.supermediastore.com for great prices. If you get them there, it'll be cheaper than buying Memorex, Imation, Bulqpaq, or any other God awful crap media you can get at Wal-Mart.

Well can you play the game online? I didn't see any DNA images that needed patching in my version.

I didn?t need to rebuild the game, I just did a straight read and write (but I have a mod chip you might need to rebuild with swap magic). The copy I backed up was PAL.

Hey guys, I'm having the same problem.
I made a copy and the game seems to take alot longer to load everything. you'll drive a few metres forward and it will load for 5 mins, then you'll move another few metres and it does it again.
I'm using DVD Decrypter and I read the ISO then tryed to copy at "MAX" speed. Then again at 4x (as it said the dvd i was writing to was made for 4x) that worked a bit better because it didnt take AS long to load bit still loads all the time. and then I wrote at 1x and it said it was writing at 3x? And that copy is as bad as the first.
I don't have the original anymore but Is till have my ISO, is there any way to fix this or do i need to start from scratch with a new ISO?

Firstly what media are you using?
Second never burn a DVD or ps2 game over 4x
O and I have used about 10 different brand disks for this game and the only disks that worked have been Sony DVD-R and Sony DVD+R.

Read this thread...http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/257531 It seems many people (including me) are having this "loading" problem, and it seems to be associated with a low quality rip that people are downloading. The black version seems to work for people though.
[b]PS2: Version 1
Boot Method: Fliptop, Swap Magic 2.0
DVD Media: 8x Taiyo Yuden, burned at 4x

Its cool I fixed it. I made my own copy so its not one ive downloaded.
The problem was the disk i was using. they must be some low quality one because as soon as I used a TDK disk the same iso worked fine.
HOpe that helps you other guys out!
