i tried making a back up of my Tekken 5. i copied it on to the hard disk using DVD Decrypter. then i wrote it on my disk using DVD Decrypter. i loaded the the back up using Swap Magic 3.6 plus. it booted and as soon the NAMCO scene came up, it froze and my PS2 made the most wierd clicking sounds as if it was trying to read it.

i used a 4X DVD-R and 8X DVD+R. For 4x discs ( yes, i have wasted three discs but all have the same problem) for 8x discs i used 4x speed.

is there anyone who can resolve this?

i will indeed be very grateful.

thanks.

As above said, could be your media..which brand is it? and also what model is your ps2? which mod do you have in conjunction with sm3.6.. aftermarket flip? slidecard? chunky fliptop? etc etc???

Do any of your other backups make this noise or is this your first backup? if your other backups work fine, are they the same brand and type?

get back to us and someone will try to help you out... the more info you give us the easier it is to try and work out what the problem could be.

Tekken 5 is the ONLY game that i wasnt able to backup. I think there is a patch for it at ps2nfo.com (still didn't work for me though).

thanks 4 ur reponse. i am using slide card with sm3.6 no other mod chip. ok, i admit my media was crappy its called maxim. but the trouble is not with da media coz my friend has a backup of tekken 5 on the same media and when i used his backup on my ps2 it worked like a charm. this means my ps2, my sm 3.6 and the media are fines its probably the way i make is wrong.
my dvd writer is AOpen 16x writing speed.

none of my other backups make this noise. however, all my backups were made by friends. i didn't have a dvd writer till then. once i got my dvd writer, i decided to make backups myself but failed miserably. i have ten coasters already.

Many people make that incorrect assumption. Sony uses different lasers in their ps2's, even if you bought 2 at the same time, they could have different lasers (one weaker than the other).

but this is not limited to one particular back up disc. somehow all his backups, 9 total work on his ps2 and my ps2. however, my backups neither work on his or on mine.the media used by both is same, the crappy maxim could all this be a coincidence?

this questions is not rhetorical and intends no disrespect. i am merely asking to improve myself. my apologies if i have offended u, for i respect ur high stature

thanx

you say that the games you've burned work in your friend's ps2.. how is his ps2 modded? is he also using swap magic and slidecard or is he using a modchip or what?

You're obviously using the slidecard ok because you've played other backup discs on your ps2... have you tried to backup any other games besides tekken 5? some people have said that it needs a rebuild or patch to work with swap magic.. which would explain (if your friend has a modchip) why it'd be working on his ps2 and not on yours.
It gets a bit more complicated though if you both have swapmagic... first thing to try is better media.

let us know how you get on with this... and good luck

the thing is he has got swap magic as well. his backup games work on mine. apart from tekken 5, i tried bulletproof, true crime:nyc, nfs 2. they all work and in all cases the media is not branded ie maxim, datawrite, tuff disc etc yet they all work on his and MY ps2 as well.doesn't this mean my ps2,the media and the swap magic are ok?

the way i have been burning games is by DVD Decrypter, ISO Read Mode then use the ISO Write, i did not rebuild it coz the games were less than 4 GIG.

am i doing anything wrong if so, let me know.

thanking u all 4 ur generous support.

did you patch it with the patch from ps2nfo.com? This goes back to my previous post, along with different lasers in the ps2, there are also different security checks between different versions.

Sorry for the misunderstanding on my part.. i thought you said that the games you burned would work on his but not on yours, LOL.

so, you have burned some games which work on both consoles using that media? just not this game?

Did your friend have to do anything to the iso to make it work?
