If its an AGP the best nvidia cards you can get would be the 6800 series as the 7800s only run on PCI-Express
cant really comment on ATI cards
Studio Comp: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ OC ~ 2.35GHz runs at 40 celcius idle and 48 under stress (aerocool GT1000 really works!), Asrock K7VT4A , 1024MB Dual Channel DDR 400, MSI Nvidia FX5200 128MB OC ~ 600MHz mem 350MHz core,80GB SATA + 200GB SATA + 120GB IDE, 7.1 Channel Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum EX sound and midi interface. 19" Sony SDM-HS95 TFT monitor - sweeet
Comp2: AMD Sempron 2400+ OC ~ 2.0GHz (Stable), Asrock K7S41GX, 512MB DDR 333, Onboard Graphics, 40GB Maxtor IDE
set of monitors on the way soon :P
Google is your friend...
WorkComp: LAPTOP, intel celeron D 2.4GHz, 256MB DDR, 20GB hd. NO SCREEN IT WAS SAWN OFF :S (bag of crap)

AMD64 3000+ 1.8GHz, Giga-Byte GA-K8NSC-939, 1024MB Dual Channel DDR 400, Nvidia XFX 6600GT 128MB AGP8x, 160GB SATA!
Battlefield 2 in singleplayer mode runs with some delays at full graphics! To play it normally I usually set the Textures at MEDIUM!
Is it normal? Can I do something?
I've installed the latests nvidia & nforce3 drivers!

Thats about right for BF2 with a 6600GT , it also depends on what rez you run ..anything above 1024*768 & you have to lower the eye candy settings or it gets a bit choppy ... BF2 also benifits when a system is running more than 1 gig of ram.
As for your original post the ATi X800 series of cards are very good or there is the Nvidia 6800 series, the GT & ultra are getting kinda scarce now but they have resently released a 6800GS.
Best bet is to read some reviews on these cards & then make your choice :)

I usually play at 1024*768 75hz. All settings at high, less the texture that runs better at medium in a 16 player map single player i've never played on the net cause i'm not plugged yet.
I've tested the most wanted at ALL SETTINGS TOP graphics and my 6600gt runs very well. Always in a 1024*768 75Hz.(i've read somewhere that it's the recomended resolution for 17" monitor for 8+ hours PC users)
