Despite trying numerous types of software I cannot get get .exe .zip to open. I can see that they are there, but can't get the setup.exe to install. I click on it and it just sits there. This problem is only with files from P2P shared types. There's no problem with other things installing. I'm running XP SP2, AVG anti-virus, using Shareaza, limewire with those 2 exceptions for the XP firewall. Any ideas out there?
Is this w/ more than one .exe or the same one?. It's probably the file itself. Get rid of Shareaza, as it is FULL of junk, limewire is too, just not as much. I suggest D/L w/ torrents, files are clean and they always work. ;-D
Thanks for the suggestions. It is with different files and I've done the virus scans but it wouldn't hurt to do some more. If anyone else can suggest more, it would be appreciated. I don't do a lot of downloading so now it's more of a quest to find out what happened.
If u dont want to dl using torrents then the best thing for u is to uninstall shraeaza completely. Use limewire only, try and get ur hands on a pro version. Get some good anti-spyware/adware and virus protection. And u should be ok. I find that limewire, shareaza ect. are only good for single songs and such, I wouldnt trust any applications or .exe files u get off there. Just my op ;-D
I have recently found out at Shareaza that you do not want to click on the Setupexe.etc.... It is apparently Spyware and not the file that you were looking for. In fact I have tried numerous times and it is always the same.
