Hi

I wish to convert my dvd's to divx format, I read the guide to doing this on this website and it is too much hassle for me.
I want to use some kind of software (ImTooDVD or similar) to do all the work for me.
Can anyone recommend the best software for me, I'm not concerned with the file size being 700mb, double that for extra quality is quite acceptable.
Ideally I would like not to have to pay for the software I end up using, can anyone advise where i can pick up appropriare software for free.
Finally, what settings should I use for the best quality on Divx, there are so many options when looking at the settings and they mean nothing to me.

I think imtoo is great. It can rip dvd to divx directly, need not install divx codec.

Seems to use installed VfW codecs, so I can't see how you could encode with DivX without having DivX installed. Also appears to output to AVI, not DivX format so you would need to remux with DivXMux after encoding.

Some of their other apps appear to use ffmpeg (libavcodec/format) so they could encode without the need to install codecs, but that would mean libavcodec MPEG-4 or XviD, not DivX.

You might want to check out AutoGK or Fairuse wizard and I would suggest XviD over DivX.
