i have been burning dvds since about august or so and i have burnt easily 400 or so...using memorex dvd+r and occasinally -r's. Up until about 3 or 4 weeks ago....i started getting that error after nero starts to burn the disc....at first i thought it was just bad media..but then i tried another type and it still messed up...i have tried different things...flashing my dvd drive...upgrading nero..everything that i have been finding on the internet...my dvd burner was a sony u14a and now i flashed it a sony 510a....that didnt mess up anything...i was having the problem before that...now i can burn a dvd here and there but it takes like 10 disc to get the movie.....i only use my computer for burning and the only things that are running when i burn are ANYDVD DVD Shrink and Nero to burn....can someone please look at my log and tell me everything that i need to do with my pc, software or whatever...look below for the log....

I have been getting ALOT of Ritek/Ricoh media probs here latly so switch to something like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim, Sony and Fuji are fine so long as they are made in Japan.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. Is your burner exteranal or what? If not then you installed your drive incorrectly and didn't set jumpers correctly.

The first link is to set your jumpers correctly, the secone link to about the IDE cables you might have to reinstall correctly if it was done wrong the first time. IF you odn't get all of it then go here

Did you honestly think multi posting would make ppl WANT to help you? I can't speak for everybody else but that just turns me away from a thread.

As for help, doing everything I told you (above) should fix any probs you may have. Do them before you post again.

Yeah, you complaing about the DMA thing, which is important, but right now you should probably work on that atapi thing. ANd have you tried reinstalling your drivers?

Here is how you can do that:

((To enable DMA back ON by "uninstalling" it's driver ?for Win XP users?))

A) on "DESKTOP" right click on "MY COMPUTER", left click on "PROPERTIES"
B) left click on "HARDWARE", left click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
C) left click on + sign of DVD/CD-ROM Drives
D) double left click on your DVD burner or your dvd-rom drive
E) left click on "DRIVER", left click on "UNINSTALL", you will see a "Warning: you are about to uninstall this device from your system", just click "OK", now "SHUTDOWN" or "restart" your computer
F) once you restart your computer, Windows should automatically detect your DVD burner?s drive and re-install it for you. That's it...easy as smoking!!

NOTE: do these steps only if the above process failed to bring DMA back on, or you can do exactly like the above steps, except this time you "uninstall" it from the ?IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers?

(A) left click on + sign of "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers"
(B) double left click on either Secondary or Primary IDE Channel (burner's driver are usually "Secondary Channel")
(C) click on "DRIVER", "UNINSTALL", "OK" and then "shutdown" or "restart" your computer. That's it... easy as smoking!!!
***NOTE: you have to know where your "DVD Burner" or "DVD-ROM drive" is installed to what Channel). Usually it's the "Secondary IDE Channel" because your "C: drive or Hard Drive" would be the main aka Primary IDE Channel already. If you're not sure, then you need to check it with "Nero Toolkit" first before you "uninstall" any of them. Once you verify with Nero Toolkit, then you can continue with the above steps.
