Extending laptop LCD cable?

Hey there, I'm a long time forum reader, first time poster (which is why I just created an account :P), and I was wondering if anybody could help me out with this question.

I obtained a free laptop from one of my friends after the dumbass picked the thing up by the screen and the lcd panel ruptured. It's a nice a15-s127 laptop with a 15" display. The guy tried to sell it on ebay to no avail, what a shame. So, he gave it to me to fix, I let him know that I'd have to replace the screen and when I gave him an estimate, he decided just to give it to me for $50.

So, then I had a laptop with a busted screen...but it was a bargain so I was happy :P. I have made my fair share of servers out of laptops with broken screens, but I decided that I wanted notebook of my own, so I decided to see if I could replace the screen with something a bit cheaper. So, I obtained a similar laptop display (same # of pins) from ebay, and started attempting to replace it.

Well, first thing was first, I took off the old rails on the thing, replaced them with the original screen's rails. No problem. I then found that the backlight and inverter were incompatible, so I swapped out the backlights. Also no problem. Then I had a nice screen hybrid that worked just fine with one little problem, the lcd cable wouldn't quite reach.

I just need to extend the thing about a centimeter or two to get it to fit. Anybody here know how?
