I recently bought a modchip (solderless) for the ps2 fat boy.i did not receive the swap magic 3.6 disc yet ,so I borrowed my buddies swapmagic 3.3 disc.I use Blindwrite 5 to copy my ps2 games. When I first got the blindwrite i used it to make a copy of NFS ungergroung 2 for my friend. The copy that I made was perfect, played just as the orriginal on his flip top.Now that I have the chip I tried to use his swapmagic disc and I keep getting "Not a valid ps2 disc".Is this because I'm surpose to use the 3.6 disc or does that not matter.Any help would be great.THANK YOU ALL.

i do believe that if you have a mod chip.. there is no need for swap magic or any swapping at all..

Also the chip installs between the eject/reset button and the mother board.Plug and play as the site says.I wasjust wondering if the version of swap magic made a difference.Thank you all once again.

No, the version of swap magic doesn't matter. My v4 ps2 started out reading my swap magic discs, but once the laser wore out a little, it wouldn't read them anymore (but it still read all originals).

What exactly is your problem? Does your swap magic disc load? Secondly, half of v4 ps2's WONT read +r discs.

Everything loads until i put in a copied disc and the program says not a valid ps2 disc.I should find out tomorrow if it works at all.I'm going to use one of my buddies copied games and see what happens.I also tried -R disc but they are Memorex(cheap testers).

Be careful when installing your solderless chip. A lot of people butcher their PS2 when installing the solderless chip. You don't need to use a solderless chip to use Swap Magic. You need a flip top or slide card with the fat PS2. Sly is right about v.4 PS2's and DVD+R's. Always use DVD-R's with the older PS2's. Get some better media. Those Memorex will wear down your PS2 laser very quickly.
1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
A. Use DVD Decrypter. Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.
2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/240341 If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc.
7. Q. What do I need to use Swap Magic?
A. With fat PS2 v.1-11: Flip top: http://www.chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/fliptop/page1.cfm Slide Card: http://www.saveware.com/SlideCardUsageAndInstall.htm
