I have a 4 gen ipod so i use itunes 2 inport all my CDs. I'm thinking about buying the new MP3 sony NW-A1000 Walkman. I know that i won't be able to read itunes ACC files. So i wanted to ask if any of you guys knew of anything that could convert ACC files to MP3 or get a sony NW-A1000 to read ACC files. Thanks for any help you can give me.
I beleive those idiots over at mac use the AAC format, not ACC. To answer your question, yes you can convert them to mp3. However it is not recommended, as you will severly lose quality. Anytime you convert a lossy format to another lossy format, a great deal of quality is lost. You're best bet is to ditch itunes, and re-rip your CDs with the best ripper out there, EAC (exact audio copy). When combined with the LAME mp3 encoder plugin, using VBR settings, you will be able to create very good quality mp3s. We have a guide for using EAC here:
If you still have your heart set on keeping your original AAC files and converting those, you can use a free converter called dBPowerAMP. you can find it here:
