When I try and back up Wes Craven's New Nightmare, I get this problem:
1. Media is dirty
2. Media is damaged
(Which is neither because it works fine in my DVD players)
3. Your drive is a region locked RPC2 drive, which does not allow reading of scrambled sectors from a different region and you try to read a DVD from a different region....
I dont get what is happening here. I backed up several today movies today, but have never gotten this notification before....
Any ideas?

Just because it works fine on your DVD player dosent mean that it is 100% flawless. There could be the smallest flaw that AnyDVD or DVD Decrypter could pick up and not let you rip.
Did you try DVD Decrypter?

@pakrbakr2,
Try changing your region setting in the drive you're reading the movie from. Be sure it matches the region the movie is.
i.e. USA & Canada is region 1. This should take care of that error.
Note: You're only allowed 5 region changes on a DVD-ROM reader. After that you are locked in the last region changed. You would have to install a new reader to start over if this occurs.
Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

bunnyrip, i would not do that, you can use AnyDVD to emulate the region code to wahtever you want as many times as you want without hurting your drive. you can download AnyDVD in the software section then dvd section.

I tried DVD Decryter with no luck. That came up with an error as well. As I looked at the DVD, it looked as it was buffed out at one time. It has circular swirls on it. I'm thinking this could be the problem with the DVD. I think that is what I get for a used DVD,

did you try Isobuster? or set DVDDecrypter to BruteForce, sometimes this will help with the reading process... otherwise the disk is totally damaged and you'll need a new copy! Or, if that's the case and it doesn't work anymore..... I read that using Brasso brass cleaning and rinsing with water does wonders. Remember to clean the disk from the inner circle to the outer rim in a straight line. DO NOT RUB YOUR DIKS IN CIRCLES!

@Jondrew,
I HAVE AnyDVD & have had it a LONG time, however, even with it, it does help to have the region on the reading drive matching the region of the DVDs you are backing up.
Ask Slysoft.
See what they say.

@pakrbakr2
Make sure you have the latest version of AnyDVD 5.6.3.1
This should make it readable unless the disc has a problem.
