I've got a desktop with a Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-16335. I've burnt DVDs with it before and it recently failed on me.

I just put in a Samsung DVDROM SD608 that I took out of my old computer. i wanted to be able to put my DVD in the Samsung and then burn it right to the Lite-On so i dont have to be home to put in a blank DVD once it rips it to my hard drive.

I think I installed it right, they both play DVDs and CDs still and seem to be working normally, but for some reason now I cant copy and movies anymore.

When i try to copy a movie in Nero 7 Ultra, here's where i lose it. when i put a dvd in the Samsung Drive my Dvd43free does not remove the copy write protection. but when i put the DVD in the Lite-On Drive, it works.

so i try and burn it and it goes through the encoding process and about half way through, it tells me it cant read the files and it closes.

how do i fix this ?

first make sure your jumpers are set rite one slave and one master. in device manager one should be "device 0" and the other "device 1"--second it sounds like a driver clash--make sure you have the latest f/w that is correct for both burners especialy if their OEM or at least one of them is

sure seems like a driver clash

and dont forget Nero 7 is brand spankin new so check for their updates and patches as well

i dont understand how to fix the driver clash. could you possiblly explain a little more ?

here's the thing. when i burn with my lite-on dvd drive it works. but i have to take out the dvd and switch it with the blank disk.

i want to be able to use both drives so i dont have to switch media anymore.

both drives work, it's just when i put a dvd in the samsung drive, Nero tells me it cannot copy it because it's copy protected and encrypted.

when i take the same dvd and put it in the lite-on drive, everything goes smoothly.

like he said (but simpler form hehehe) go to ur dvd drive manufactuers' web sites and try to see if there is any firmware updates for each of the drives and make sure windows (or mac) is updated. And for your master/slave part u probably wanna make the drive that is better ur master and the other the slave hope i helped!

now that i read your post over again and u said something about encryption then u need a good decrypter ive tried probably 10-20 and i found only 1 to work well at least for most of my dual layers i burn that is AnyDVD and clonedvd2 www.slysoft.com try it out after u do the other stuff first

and if your using AnyDVD make sure in settings that you have both drives checked so it will work with either one you put the dvd in
