the ritek (thats what i use) or sony are good. Princo is crap and i don't know about mjc. If you ps2 is newer, + and - don't matter. If its an older ps2, use -r.

V9 PS2, flip top, SMD, DVDLoader
Pioneer 107, ritek g05
DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero

Taiyo Yuden is excellent. So far it's 45/45 with succesful backups. You can get some great deals on Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden at http://www.supermediastore.com I'd go with the Taiyo Yuden's, some people have had problems with Verbatim. http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm That link contains some useful info as far as DVD-R quality. I'd go with Taiyo Yuden. The Princos are horrible. Check the media code of those MJC's against what you see in this link. To check the media code, open DVD Decrypter then insert your disc. Check what it say's under manufacturer ID.

1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
A. Use DVD Decrypter. Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.

2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/240341
If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc.

Yeah a version 12 with a chip may very well need a laser fix. The mod guy is likely right. The v.12 had el cheapo laser which would burn out without a fix for a modchip.

My top 3 choices of media are: 1) genuine Taiyo Yuden 2) Verbatim "Advanced Azo" 3) Maxell (Hitachi - made in japan).

Go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/262544 for more info on high quality media scans versus crap/low quality media scans.

(NOTE: keep in mind to always burn at 4X - it's the best and safest burning speeds for both DVD movies and PS2 games).

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

I agree. Taiyo Yuden is the shit. So far it's 47/47 out of my first 50 pack.
