Is using DL DVD easier for backup up big games?

I'm about to follow SONIX's tutuorial to copy God of War and was just wondering if I can same myself any steps by buying a Dual Layer DVD burner instead of using my single layer burner. Were all the additional steps mostly because of the space issue on a 4.7GB disc? If I still need to follow all the steps, I may just use my current burner.
Any thoughts?

You can ONLY use dual layer discs to backup dual layer games IF you have a modchip that supports dual layer discs. If you have swap magic then you'll have to downsize the DVD-9 to DVD-5 as per sonix way.

Hey paddymail, so my burner and chip supports DVD-9...can I just burn God of War like any other dvd game? Thanks.

It's a magic v plus, it is compatible. I've just never bothered to try an DL copy though. I've never really had to. Thanks for the help.

So I can skip the "sonix" process? Providing my drive can burn it and I
have the media of course. Does DVD Decrypter support DVD-9?

dMerc, Yes you can skip the 'sonic' process if you have a DL burner, DL media and your chip supports DL back ups. Yes, DVD Decrypter does support DL burning (though I've read that you may need to change the book type in Decrypter). I did a straight back up of my GoW onto a DL disc - I used Decrypter in the normal manner: ISO read..ISO write (and i didn't change any of the 'book mark' settings on Decrypter). By the way I used a Verbatim DL disc, I have a pioneer 109r burner and a matrix chip on a V12. Good luck.
