DVD Decrypter worked fine until I formatted my hard drive last week. I download DVD Decrypter again, and ever since then, I can't burn any DVD's. I updated my ascpi, my DMA is set correctly, firmware is correct and current, using verbatim disks. What can I do to get up and running again?

Well, sounds like you did most of the leg work required to figure out your problem, but you are going to have to give us a clue as to what happened? Did you get an error message from decrypter? Or an error message from your OS?

Please help us, help you,

Rich

I take it we will have to play 20 questions here. What is the make and model of your burner? I take it that this error message came from your OS, right? If so, what OS?

If so, check this link out, and there are 5 potential scenerios that should give you a hint as to what the problem is.

http://www.cdr-zone.com/articles/atapi_error_codes_page_1.html

Also.............

A power calibration error is caused by the inability of a DVD-RW drive to use a DVD-R or DVD-RW disk.

DVD-R and DVD-RW disks themselves have information written on them, within this Media ID code there is information that the drive uses to calibrate itself to the disk, when a drive first starts to write to a disk it will burn a small amount of data to a calibration area on the disc, using the calibration information in the Media ID code, and then try to read back the data that it has written. If it cannot be read, then disk will be ejected and fail with a power calibration error.

A power calibration error is normally caused by problems with the media. Should you be experiencing problems with your drive or the media, we recommend that a disk from a good quality manufacturer be used to test it.
+++++++++++++++++++++

This suggests that your DVD media isn't very good.

HTH,

Rich

Operating System is Win XP, my burner is a NEC 1300a. I thought Verbatim disks were supposed to be one of the better brands to use. I have burned on these disks before and never had a problem until I reformatted my hard drive. Do I need to make a change to my OS?

Hi there,

Did you try burning those at 2x ?

I had this issue once, but was using cheap media !

Burning at 2x solved lots of issues I had with cheap media also !

I 15:45:31 Write Type: SAO
I have also read people having issues with their burner trying to burn Session At Once (SAO) see in the settings is there's an other way of burning.

In VSO CopyToDVD, you can unselect [ ] DVD-R SAO first.

Maybe DVD Shrink also has such options...

bad disk's, a knackered burner, faulty cable or burning too fast on a low spec pc are the most common causes of Power calibration errors
in no particular order

Also, I noticed that you're only on service pack 1... might want to update that.
