Ok I have a problem with certain movies after the ripping process. The movies are: Gone in 60 Seconds, Black Hawk Down, xXx, Gladiator, LotR - Fellowship of the Ring. All of these movies will rip using any of these programs i've tried (DVDXCopy, DVDDecryptor, Smartripper - all programs are using latest updates). However while the video and sound quality are fine and the menus work fine, the problem is in the video synch. The video constantl speeds up and slows down. It is at a fixed interval it sems, bout a sec or two between speed shifts, with the shifts lasting about the same. I am totally lost as to why just these movies do this.i've successfully done approx 40-45 movies with out a hitch. Any ideas?

Bw8755, Don't know if you want to go this process or not..but...i use dvd decryptor, dvd2one and then nero to make my backups. And i have successfully backed up all the movies you mentioned. Of course if you want the menus then this is useless. I will say that even though LOTR was almost 3 hours long it looked stunning even compressed onto one dvd. By the way i use a Sony DRU 500A with Bulk Ritek DVD-R media.

ok I figured out what was happening. What i was doing with these movies was taking out individual scenes for a compilation Home Theater Demo disk. And after ripping out the scenes the playback was messed up like i described. Turns out that when compiled and burned, and then played back on a settop player, ,everything was fine. So the problem was only when viewing the vob file on my PC. So i think it may have something to do with the video card. Maybe these movies are more complex than everything else i've done? Not sure but at least it's not a problem anymore. Thanks for trying to help though. Take care
