Hello everyone, I apologize in advance if someone has already answered this question.
What I use:
LITE-ON SOHW-1673S
DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0.
DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15
MEDIA: TDK (RITEK-R03-02)

I bought about 200 DVD+R from my local store during a sale. I have burned using this media for a couple of months with absolutely no problems. And now recently some DVDs have been giving me trouble particularly during the last chapters or so. The DVDs freeze and skip, and yet it seems that nothing has changed. I have always used DVD-5 and this media with no problems and now all the sudden its giving me a headache. I have read that maybe i should burn on to a custom size to prevent burning near the edge, I haven't tried this but i don't think that's the problem since i had no problems before when i burned DVDs of the same size on the same media. The ISO files play fine on my computer so i know that is not the problem either. Can i avoid burning on a custom size and any further compression? Is that even the Problem? WHY DO THE SKIP!!!!!!????????
Any help will be much appreciated.

I have burned lots of the Ritek R03 and it is very good. Burn speed will cause the issues you mention, as well as burning too close to the edge. Cut your burn to 4x and target size to 4300. Another thing that can cause what you describe is PAPER LABELS. If you are using them, try removing a couple and replay the DVD.

I do not have experience with the TDK Riteks, but my maxell ritek branded media has given me no problems.

Cheers.

Hey thanks for your help.
So i will try to burn one that has been giving me poblems at 4x, but the thing that you mentioned about paper labels, does that apply to print on DVDs too??? Cause that what these are.

Hi there,

I would say try some Taiyo Yuden, or Verbatim media.

Burning at 2x and using 4300 ISO size, I get this to work on the worse media ever, so it's gotta something on your burner, or your media.
